About Wok @ Star
Wok @ Star is a Chinese takeaway in Coventry, found at 71 Barker's Butts Ln. Payment here is cash only, so customers should bring cash before ordering. A cash point is available across the road for anyone who arrives without any. Local parking is difficult, so anyone driving over to collect an order should plan for that before setting out. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise hot, fresh, tasty food, with several calling it among the best Chinese takeaways in the city and one saying they travel a long way for it. Named favorites include the salt and pepper crispy chicken, a chicken fried rice described as properly fried, and Singapore curry, with spare ribs called decent and beef curry chips mostly delicious despite a few chewy bits of beef. Others point to generous portions, a menu that differs from the average takeaway, and consistent results whether ordering in person or by phone. The complaints centre on order mistakes. One reviewer had two botched orders in a row and was offered no refund or replacement because the shop was about to close. Another received the wrong delivery, then got the same cold food back as the replacement, which they called unhygienic. One diner found the special satay watery with pineapple in it. A couple mention early closing and difficult local parking. One late caller was told delivery was still possible and received it hot.

“Possibly one of the best Chinese takeaways in the whole of this city, unfortunately, they closed too early.”

“Salt and pepper crispy chicken was very tasty. Fresh ingredients. Good portion. Singapore curry was good. Spare ribs were decent. The special satay however was poor. It tasted nothing like a satay I’ve had before. It was very watery and had pineapple in. Maybe they sent the wrong dish but I don’t recommend it.”

“The BEST Chinese ever!! Travel 2.5 hours to get this Chinese, the best in the business!”

“Great food and loads of it at a good price. They are a cash only establishment and a cash point is available across the road if needed. Local parking is an absolute nightmare, but worth it as the Chinese food has to be one of the best in the city.”
