Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the generous, home cooked pub food, with the steak and ale pie drawing the most envy and the fish and chips called brilliant. Reviewers also name the beef Sunday dinner, the stir fried chicken in Cantonese sauce, the chicken fajita and a sweet and sour chicken they were surprised to find on a pub menu. Several describe the menu as large and varied, and a few say none of their party finished their mains. Value comes up repeatedly, with most calling it reasonably priced for the portions, though one notes prices are a bit higher than elsewhere while still good value. Staff are described as friendly, polite and welcoming, and several mention that dogs are welcome. One reviewer says to ignore the slightly weather-worn signs outside, since the pub is clean and in great nick inside. Others mention a warm fire, outdoor seating with a view, and a good line up on the taps. One family of nine with two dogs found the children's food as good as the adults' meals.

“Went for lunch with family in a group of four. The food choices were wide and varied and the portions were huge. Prices, are a bit higher than elsewhere but it's very good value for money. None of us finished our mains and I'm usually one to sweep up after everyone else. As well as generous portions the quality is excellent. Food is clearly fresh and very flavourful.”

“Lovely little stop, made to feel super welcome with Dog, lovely friendly atmosphere, so much so, that we intend to travel down from the Borders, meeting friends travelling up. 😁👌”

“We went for a family meal and we all really enjoyed it. Most pubs don't have sweet and sour chicken on their menu. When I saw this I had to try it and it was delicious. We had a lovely time and we would defiantly go back again.”

“Fantastic Sunday dinner with even better service at this place. We went by chance on a random Sunday and were greeted like we went every week. I got the beef dinner and it was all just beautiful. I would highly recommend this place if you want a traditional Sunday roast :)”
