About Colchester Spice
On Barrack Street in Colchester, Colchester Spice is a modern Indian restaurant serving halal dishes across an Indian and Bangladeshi menu that spans curries, tarka daal and qorma, with lamb curries among the regularly ordered plates. The kitchen also turns out chapatis alongside the wider range. A takeaway service runs from the front of the house for collection. The team is smartly dressed, and background music plays inside the dining room. Tables can be booked in advance, with the room taking walk-ins through the rest of the week.

“Absolutely awful. Food completely swimming in oil which ruined the whole meal. Incredibly disappointing as restaurant used to be fantastic. Would not recommend.”

“The staff were absolutely lovely, and the food was very well cooked and tasty. It’s an underrated place that deserves more attention.”

“Went in hungry, left hungry. Avoid this place if you value your time and money. We waited 45 minutes for below-average food. The Tarka Daal lacked any tarka, and the Qorma was essentially a ruined version of malai boti. On top of that, they charged £4.95 for what was clearly a basic Asda chapati. Absolute rip-off. Never coming back.”
