About Bowland Beer Hall at Holmes Mill
Bowland Beer Hall at Holmes Mill is a restaurant and beer hall in Clitheroe, built around a 105ft 4" bar that is one of the longest in Britain. The bar runs 42 hand pulls and keeps at least 24 cask beers on at any one time, with the full range of Bowland Brewery beers alongside guest ales. Drinkers can order pints, halves, or a paddle of four thirds, and Henry Weston's cider is on draught. The kitchen serves fish & chips and burgers, and the team is clear on gluten free and other dietary or allergen requirements. The hall is open daily and can get very busy on weekend evenings. A shop and a hotel share the Holmes Mill site.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come above all for the beer, a huge range of cask ales that includes the brewery's own, with one noting the pints are well poured and the bar will make up a paddle of four thirds. One reviewer also points to Henry Weston's cider on draught. Close behind is the atmosphere, described as lively, relaxed and brilliant, with plenty of seating inside and out, though one says the place can be rammed. Service is mostly called friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and one reviewer was steered to a new beer after describing their usual tastes. Food divides opinion. A Sunday roast with large portions and fresh vegetables, plus fish and chips and cheeseburgers, drew approval, but others call the food expensive, one left half a heavy burger, and another found the chicken wings far too salty and dry. That same reviewer says the reception staff did not help them and then teased them. Several reviewers say dietary requirements and allergens were handled well, with gluten free options clearly marked.

“Would definitely recommend to go for a beer, the selection available is unlike anywhere I've been. Don't bother with the food, very reminiscent of weatherspoons but nearly 3 times the price. The service was very good”

“I actually had the wine and he had the beer, but the Bowland Brewery pint looked far better for the photo, so naturally I borrowed it for a minute! Such a relaxed place with a brilliant atmosphere, great drinks and plenty to look at. Definitely worth a visit even if your partner has to wait patiently while you get the perfect review picture!”

“Been many times to the beer hall. And not had an issue other than the place can be rammed. I think the food is a little on the expensive side but can’t tell you any critique on it as they sell Henry Weston’s cider on draught. And that tells you its own story. But it’s a very lively atmosphere but do save up for a couple of weeks because a good works do will hammer your account!”

“A Clitheroe Gem with Massive Soul! :) I can’t recommend Bowland Brewery enough—it is a total gem. The first thing you notice is the incredible interior; they’ve done a stunning job mixing the old industrial bones of the building with modern style. It feels grand but still has a genuine, welcoming soul that’s hard to find. The Highlights: -The Beer: The selection is absolutely huge. I wasn’t sure what to pick, but after I described my usual tastes to the staff, they knew exactly what to offer me as a new experience. I tried their recommendation and loved it from the very first sip! -The Service: The team here is fantastic. They are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. Thank You! :) -The Location: It’s a massive venue right in the heart of Clitheroe. While the on-site car park is a bit small and gets busy fast, there is plenty of street parking nearby. Plus, it’s ideally located near the Castle, the cinema, and Sainsbury’s, with great bus links right around the corner. Whether you're a craft beer nerd or just looking for a beautiful spot to relax, this place is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be back! ♡”

“The Beer Hall is Bowland Brewery’s flagship tasting parlour… and what a flagship it is! One of the longest bars in Britain – 105ft 4”- is home to 42 hand pulls and hosts a minimum of 24 individual cask beers at any one time. There’s also a bank of bespoke keg beers and lagers too, not to mention an ever-changing selection of ciders. Then there’s the bottled beers and the cans… not quite every beer you can think of, more an expertly curated selection – that changes every week!”
