About Five The Beach
Five The Beach is a family-run cafe and bistro at 5 The Beach in Clevedon, looking out over the Bristol Channel. The kitchen cooks with local produce and keeps a large vegetarian selection alongside a full menu and daily specials. Baguettes come with a choice of fillings, including veggie, fish and dairy-free options, and a Full English breakfast sits among the cooked dishes. Homemade cakes go with the coffee, and hot drinks can be made with plant milk. Gluten-free options are on the menu, and coeliac orders are double-checked and brought out with an allergy flag, so those avoiding gluten can order with that check in place. Live music nights give the cafe a second role after the daytime menu. There is no booking system, as the cafe takes walk-ins.

Customer Review Summary
Homemade cakes with coffee or tea draw the most praise, including a toasted tea cake with butter and jam that one reviewer called fresh, served with a pot of proper leaf tea. Soup and stuffed baguettes follow, and a full English with tasty blood sausage and a generous portion of toast also earns mention. Reviewers describe a buzzing, busy room with sea views over the Bristol channel, outdoor seating for watching the world go by, and a patio that keeps the wind off. Dietary needs get repeated credit: a group with a vegetarian, a pesci and a dairy free eater all found baguettes to suit, and hot drinks came with plant milk choices. The main complaint is a slow Saturday breakfast, with a long wait for food and coffees, a full English served in a bowl, and a service charge added. Reviewers differ on dogs, with one noting they are not allowed inside and another calling the cafe dog friendly. One parent of a coeliac son describes an order double checked and gluten free food brought out separately with an allergy flag.

“We’ve been to 5 on The Beach today for my 60th birthday celebration with my family (children and grandchildren) and have enjoyed the most fabulous lunch. We’ve visited this restaurant many times over the years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, amazing food and incredible service…..but today was at another level! I was made to feel so special and to have my birthday cake delivered with “happy birthday” sung by everyone was incredible. Thanks so much to the whole team at 5 On The Beach. A birthday celebration that I’ll never forget.”

“Myself and two friends had an amazing meal at this restaurant on Sat 15th Aug in fact our whole lunchtime experience was fun and sociable. The staff are friendly and polite and extremely hard working. Mary’s menu is always exciting and we are looking forward to our next lunch there in a few weeks time.”

“Saturday morning at 1030: over half hour wait for breakfast and about 15mins for the coffees. Very tasty, but first time I had a full English in a bowl… 10% service charge added. Staff friendly and efficient. Outside seating looked nice but full when we arrived.”

“Excellent experience today. Despite the heat and busy restaurant, we were welcomed warmly. My son has coeliac disease and waitress was clued up on what he could have and reassured us that they take it seriously. Our order was double checked. His food was brought out separately with an allergy flag. Bravo to the waitress and waiter who were friendly and informative and thank you to this establishment for providing truly gluten free options. It made a huge difference to our day.”

“This is our second visit. The menu is great with daily specials and also a full comprehensive menu. The food is all made fresh and is superb!! Servings are also very healthy unlike other places. The homemade cakes and coffee are also fabulous - and that's from a very fussy coffee drinker. Great super friendly staff and a great view round it off. First class”
