Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on the food, with chow mein the dish raised most. One praises a duck chow mein packed with meat and veg in a huge portion, while another found the king prawn chow mein flavourless, with no wok char, no beansprout or spring onion, and cauliflower in its place. Close behind, salt and pepper chicken drew two complaints: hard lumps of chicken in one, soggy onions and no seasoning in another. Other diners call the food delicious, gorgeous and full of flavour, though one says the crispy beef was not crispy and the curry sauce was runny. Delivery reports vary. An order for five arrived piping hot, while another took well over an hour and ended with a driver who mumbled a comment and refused to repeat it. Service is divided too. Some describe a lovely, welcoming owner and well-timed table service, while others call the manager and owner rude and the food overpriced. One takeaway customer was given prawn crackers they had not ordered.

“We ordered our meals for delivery at 18.10. A small, basic order for two people. At 19.20, I telephoned to enquire about the delivery and was told it was on its way. It eventually arrived at 19.36. My wife answered the door and thanked the driver but also said, “finally”. The driver made a mumbled comment but refused to say what it was. He repeatedly refused to say what he had said and, eventually, we had to ask him to leave the street. We returned into our house and your driver drove away. We are totally disappointed in the attitude of one of your drivers as we have never experienced this before. We have also never had to wait for an hour and a half for our food before. We are regular customers and clearly the previous very high standards of service and delivery drivers has dropped.”

“Eaten in here before and really enjoyed the food, so decided to get a takeaway tonight and honestly it was even better than I remembered 😍 I live just over the 4 mile delivery distance but they still delivered to me which I really appreciated. Definitely the best Chinese around! The food was absolutely gorgeous, really well priced and packaged nicely too. The duck chow mein was packed with loads of meat and veg, and the portion size was huge! Everything was still piping hot when it arrived, even though I’m about 20 minutes away. And I actually feel great after eating it 😂 usually Chinese leaves me feeling so bloated but I feel absolutely fine. Definitely will be ordering again ❤️🥢”

“I have wanted to try Wok Ever Palace for some time after recommendations from friends. Unfortunately, I won't be back. After living in Guangzhou, China for 13 years and travelling extensively through China, I am always on the lookout for authentic Chinese food. Fully aware that many restaurants adapt flavours to their customer's palate and demographic, so I kept things simple and ordered king prawn chow mein and king prawn fried rice. Ordering was easy and completed online and it was ready when I went to pickup. On collection I was happy as the food felt piping hot. We were also given prawn crackers, not ordered, which was a nice gesture. The portion sizes are reasonable and the amount of prawns in each dish was generous. The fried rice was ok, the better of the 2 main dishes. The chow mein, however, was a different story. There was no flavour and even the addition of our own Pearl River Soy Sauce led to no improvement. The noodles did not seem fried (no wok char flavour) but more boiled with a sauce. No spring onion, no beansprout and the inclusion of cauliflower in the chow mein was, lets just say, interesting. I've never had fried noodle with cauliflower and I don't think I want it again.”

“Staff where very nice how ever the owner is Extremely rude foods was not worth the money over charging for very cheap food honestly there’s no need for the expense when the food is not very good at all can get better in any takeaway for a lot less money I definitely would not go here again I’d advise anyone to stay away overpriced very cheap food flavourless salt and pepper was well. There was no salt and pepper soggy onions with a few cheap prawns on top nasty taste in my mouth and over charged for it A total violation and clearly he cannot take criticism as every bad review. He received Is apparently fake the food is nasty. to think that he can serve nasty food and expect people to give him five star Ratings chicken wings look like they’re from farm foods charged me £170 for worst food I’ve ever eaten”
