About The Bathurst Estate Office

The Bathurst Estate Office is a country park in Cirencester, where walkers pay an entrance fee per person to walk in. A castle is visible in the grounds. The gates are staffed, and walkers bring dogs along. Drivers pay for parking first, and the walking entrance fee comes after that payment. The estate is also listed as a cafe, a farm, a holiday home, a wedding venue and a property management company, so the site covers more than walking alone.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often raise the new entrance fee for walking in the park, called high and greedy, with one saying it only emerged after paying for parking. One visitor now walks dogs near the church instead. Others praise the impressive castle and a pram-friendly walk, and one says the gate staff are lovely. One mentions potholes on the approach roads.

“Looks great from Google maps. Can't figure out how to visit because the UK is still literally using the same roads the Romans built 3000 years ago. FIX THEM.”
  • Catherine Grayson
“Enjoyed by generations for free, now £4 each person to walk into the park. And you only find out after paying for parking, so 2 hours out is over £10. Shockingly greedy. Like many others we left!!!”
  • Rebecca Michael
“Lovely, accessible place to walk with a pram and a dog and the staff on the gates are always lovely.”
  • Stuart Taylor
“Used to be a very nice place to visit but now there is an entrance fee, which is very high. Apparently Cirencester residents can buy a season ticket or something like that but we visit from Bristol. Last time we walked here with our dogs was 2023 and the charging began in 2024. Now we walk our dogs in the park near the church, which is actually very nice and even has toilets!”
  • AP Golfing Solutions
“Bathurst wants the countryside within his grounds, whilst us peasants must reject it in favour of his housing estates. Furthermore, it's creating a disruption to the area. How much longer are we going to be driving over gigantic potholes?”
