About The Boathouse
The Boathouse is a seafood restaurant and bar on Quay Road in Christchurch, with a separate breakfast and cafe service alongside it. The menu moves from monkfish gyoza and sea bass to a London pizza topped with pepperoni, ham, chicken and smoky bacon on a Margherita base, and finishes with a Key Lime and Strawberry Pavlova built from meringue, Key Lime sauce, strawberry bits, strawberry ice cream and whipped cream. The dining room opens onto a green beside the water, and live music plays on Saturdays. A private dining room at the back takes group bookings, and dogs are welcome in the space. Service runs through the day, with the bar covering the later hours.

“We had a wonderful lunch at the Boat House with six of us, and the whole experience was excellent. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and the service really made our visit special. A particular mention must go to our waiter, Lucasz, who was exceptionally professional, attentive and friendly throughout our lunch. He looked after our group brilliantly and made sure everything was just right without ever being intrusive. Thank you Lucasz 😊 A thoroughly enjoyable experience, and we would happily return. Highly recommended!”

“Anna & I enjoyed another wonderful evening at The Boathouse. We were beautifully welcomed and looked after by Anthony and Łukasz. The Monkfish Gyoza was gorgeous, whilst the Sea Bass was an exquisitely prepared gastronomic delight. Łukasz' customer care and attention to detail is second to none, no matter how busy the restaurant. Thank you for all your warmth and hospitality. We will look forward to returning.”

“Overall, a pretty good experience. No wait for a table upon arrival, immediately seated. A really nice waiter came over immediately to establish his presence and check we are doing okay. Extremely attentive staff. All the staff members were lovely and a joy to be around, the original waiter constantly checking in to make sure we are doing good. What I ordered was the London pizza, which consisted of a conventional Margherita base, topped with pepperoni, ham, chicken and smoky bacon. It was a decent pizza, but personally it let me down as a result of it being pretty dry, and lacking flavour. Don't mistake it for being bad, though. For dessert, I ordered the Key Lime and Strawberry Pavlova, which comprised of Key Lime sauce, strawberry bits, strawberry ice cream, whipped cream and meringue. At first I wasn't sure, but it grew on me as I ate, and the verdict on the sauce improved. Nice atmosphere too. I would maybe come here again, and try some of the other dishes. Nice staff, decent food, great service and decent atmosphere. Thank you for hosting us tonight.”
