About Porro Llandaff
Porro Llandaff is an Italian restaurant in Cardiff, at 22 High St, serving modern British food with Italian influences since 2015. The kitchen keeps the menu seasonal and sources from local and independent suppliers where it can, with a few items brought in from Italy. Dishes include an arancini starter, ox cheek tagliatelle and ox tongue, and a set lunch menu is also offered. Reservations are required. A private dining room upstairs serves groups, and it has hosted wedding meals, receptions and birthday parties. Hosts can decorate the room ahead of time, and the team helps lay it out. The wine list is made up of independently sourced bottles chosen to match the food and reviewed regularly.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come to Porro for celebrations, especially weddings and birthdays. Several held a wedding meal or reception in the private dining room upstairs, and they describe the staff decorating the space with their own decor and handling food allergies with no problem. Birthday parties of 6 and 20 people also praise waiters who went out of their way. Close behind is the food. One diner calls the arancini the best they had ever had, and others single out the ox cheek tagliatelle, the ox tongue and a perfectly cooked fish, with generous portions and a set lunch described as very good value. Service is called friendly, attentive and never rushed, and one family notes a manager who was caring toward their elderly mother. The one caveat comes from a single reviewer who found the food a little expensive for what it was and wanted bigger chunks of meat in the tagliatelle. One reviewer says booking ahead is wise on a busy Valentine's Day, and another recalls staff arranging a taxi home during a storm.

“If you are looking for excellent food paired with genuine, heart-led hospitality, this is the place. We dined as a family of four on an extremely rainy Saturday night during Storm Austen, and stepping inside felt like finding the most comforting escape. Despite how busy the restaurant was, Sara and Brian were such lovely hosts. They took the time to find out we were celebrating a special family occasion and looked after us brilliantly. We were never rushed and were given plenty of time to relax, unwind, and enjoy our meal at a wonderful, unhurried pace. What truly stood out was the sheer genuineness of the team, who went above and beyond to make us feel valued throughout the night — even making sure we had a taxi home safe and dry. Excellent food, lovely surroundings, and exceptional warmth from hosts who treat you like family. Sara, Brian, and the team deserve every success. We are so grateful for such a memorable night and will definitely be returning!”

“We held our wedding reception in the private dining area upstairs, and couldn’t have had a better experience. The area is the perfect size and such a gorgeous, cosy space. Staff were amazing, ahead of the time with the planning, and on the night with the most exceptional service. The food was phenomenal, really generous portion sizes, and we already can’t wait to visit again to enjoy more. What a lovely restaurant, thank you Porro!”

“What a pleasant surprise! After a random search to find a restaurant near to Llandaff cathedral for an event, I stumbled across Porro. What a delight it was, service was very attentive and friendly, the restaurant felt relaxed and charming. The food was outstanding, the £25 set lunch menu was very good value and we will definitely return. I have already recommended it to several friends. We will return to Llandaff area, which in itself was quaint, solely to vist Porro. Well done to the team, we look forward to seeing you soon.”
