Quick info
About Cafe Citta
Cafe Citta is a family-run Italian restaurant at 4 Church St in Cardiff, where the mother serves home-made dishes from an open kitchen. The cooking is done in view of the diners, which gives a small dining room a direct link to the people preparing the food. The menu includes pasta such as tagliatelle carbonara and pasta polpette, made with meatballs, alongside pizza with the Margherita among the options. Daily specials change what is on offer from one visit to the next. Booking in advance is the way to secure a table here, since the room is small.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the pasta, with the tagliatelle carbonara praised for its flavour and abundance of pancetta, and the pasta polpette and lasagne also named. A pizza, mushroom bruschetta and a meatball special come up too, and portions are described as very generous. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and quick, and several note the team accommodated a severe prawn allergy and a celiac guest with good options. The one reservation comes from a solo lunch diner who found the carbonara slightly heavy, said it was not cheap though it felt like good value, and was seated at an awkward table by the door. Booking is the reviewers' own advice: several say walk-in space is hard to get, and one saw people politely turned away at lunch. One family was offered a later table when fully booked and watched the food being prepared from their seats. Another table of three was brought a wafer so the guest who skipped dessert wasn't left out.

“Looking for somewhere nice to eat before watching The Street at Cardiff Castle. I’ve lived in Cardiff for 26 years and have never been here before but I’m so glad I did today. Service was quick and friendly and the food was amazing, I’ll be back soon”

“Fabulous meal last night. In lieu of my birthday - and after a great day of cricket watching Welsh Fire women's and men's team's victories. The atmosphere was buzzing, the service hit the spot and the bill (tho I didn't pay it!) did not break the bank. The atmosphere around Cardiff as we collected our car was also very cheerful.”

“Fab team! Delicious food. Make sure you are really hungry as the portions are very generous. We had a pizza and Pasta Polpette. Both delicious. Best advice is to book if you are planning visits at peak times. Already thinking when we can go again!”
