About Maria’s Coffee & Sandwich Shop

Mornings at Maria’s Coffee & Sandwich Shop start with a cooked English breakfast, served at this cafe on Wentloog Rd in Cardiff. The rest of the menu runs through hot and cold sandwiches and paninis, with lighter plates and a counter of cakes and sweet treats to go with them. Drinks cover hot and cold options, including a peach iced tea. There is no booking system, so customers order at the counter as they arrive, and orders can also be phoned through in advance and picked up for eating off site. High chairs are on hand for families with young children, and dogs are welcome to come in with their owners. The shop trades in the daytime from Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary

The warmth of the owners and the women behind the counter is what comes up most, with visitors describing being greeted and introduced on arrival, served quickly, and looked after without any pushiness. Close behind is the food itself: the paninis and peach iced tea draw a daily regular, while others single out the English breakfast, the toast, and the range running from hot and cold sandwiches to jacket potatoes, salads and cakes, alongside iced lattes and teas. Several call the prices affordable and the value good, and one notes the place is spotlessly clean. A visitor needing gluten free food describes being reassured about how the kitchen handles it and leaving happy, and another mentions the resident cockatiel as good entertainment. One reviewer points out the step at the entrance and the sign warning about it, and another says orders can be phoned ahead and collected. One regular recounts being sent a small sweet treat unprompted, simply for coming in often.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
