Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the owner's welcome, describing her as warm and smiley, sitting down to recommend dishes, taking a photo of a couple, and offering complimentary biscuits and cheesecake. Food praise centers on the pancakes and the brownies, with avocado on toast, a full breakfast with turkey bacon called clean and fresh rather than greasy, a Spanish latte, mocktails and a panini also named. Close behind, staff are called friendly and attentive without hovering. A few note limited seating inside, a short wait, and parking that is hard to find. One reviewer describes a very different visit, saying the owner snapped when the table added extra items after ordering, and that the breakfast came overcooked and dry, with oil that seemed to need changing, though the pancakes were ok. Another found the flat white ok. Others recall an extra egg from the cook and a complimentary birthday brownie.

“Had an amazing experience brunching at this place. Staff was so friendly and helpful, there was waiting time but luckily we didn’t wait for long, there is not much seating inside. I got the mini kiwi, coffee and juice, the lady who was making my food gave me an extra egg which made my morning breakfast yummy. Would definitely recommend however they’re only open 3 days a week and parking is hard to find.”

“Was very excited to try this place but very disappointed with the attitude of the owner. We have never been so obviously the girls wanted to try a few extra different things after we had ordered which is normal as wherever you go you can decide to order other stuff while eating it’s normal but her attitude was like right is this the last now are you sure it’s too hot in kitchen etc I was fine I responded very friendly with a smile but honest even when i went back to the table my daughter asked why she was so rude. If the cafe was close to closing time I can get where she was coming from but there was customers coming in while this happened so it didn’t make sense for her to be angry about us ordering extra stuff as she already had to cook for the other customers. I work in a busy cafe too and we always have people asking for extras not once have I or any staff spoke like that she was so rude like snapping at me. I’m a customer I can order as much as I like you don’t speak like that to anyone no matter what. I The girls taking orders very polite and kind. Food wasn’t as expected pancakes were ok but breakfast everything was very overcooked and dry. Like I said I work in a cafe so could tell the oil needed a change. Wont be going back or recommending. Reading some of the reviews about the rude service from the owner makes sense now.”

“Lovely little cafe. We had the avocado on toast which was really delicious. Hubby had a full breakfast with the turkey bacon and it was really clean and fresh- not greasy. First time having turkey bacon and it was sooo tasty. The mocktails were great in the heat too. Thank you team.”

“Visited Pink Kiwi for the first time yesterday afternoon when I was needing a cup of tea and a pleasant place to perch for an hour or so to write. After a trip to Cathays Library (a few doors up on the crossroads) first, what a fabulous surprise it was to find this absolute gem located nearby. Taslima (the owner) greeted me as soon as I walked in and I was made to feel instantly welcome. I ended up staying for two cups of tea, since it was such a lovely atmosphere, and the complimentary biscuits and cheesecake (it needed eating up apparently!) were so thoughtful. I really enjoyed my visit - the staff were attentive without constantly checking up on you, and I was left in peace to write and enjoy my drinks. I understand that over the lunchtime period it gets very busy since the cafe is so popular (which is fantastic) but I loved the relaxed cosyness of it in the mid afternoon when a few other people popped in to either sit in or place takeaway orders - every person was welcomed and served very promptly. At the end of my visit, I chatted to Taslima for a bit, which was lovely - this cafe is clearly her passion and she cares about every single detail - and I promised to come back and bring my husband. I look forward to returning again soon!”

“Amazing service! Came from Birmingham for a day out down in Cardiff and Taslima was very welcoming and kind to me and my friends. She made sure we enjoyed our food, which was extremely delicious, and the pancakes and brownie after was also amazing! Thank you to the Pink Kiwi team, wishing for your prolonged success❤️”
