About The Alma
The Alma is a traditional pub at 26 Russell Ct in Cambridge, with hardwood floors, old beer barrels and memorabilia on the walls. The large open-plan room has several big screens for sport, with rugby a particular focus, so it suits watching a match. A pub quiz and a darts setup give groups something to play, and live music is part of the line-up after 8pm. Behind the bar, it is a Green King pub that also pours guest beers and real ale. The food menu runs to pies and fish and chips, with gammon, egg and chips also on offer. The pub welcomes dogs.

Customer Review Summary
Sport on the screens is what most reviewers return for, with rugby singled out repeatedly and one calling it a pub that shows almost any sport. The large open plan room gets very busy for rugby nationals but is not described as excessively rowdy, and one reviewer suggests checking the website first for anyone who does not enjoy sports. Food comes close behind, including gammon, egg and chips, and fish and chips followed by sticky toffee pudding. A turnip and butternut pie was good, though one diner found the potatoes too salty. Reviewers also praise the beer, from very good guest beers alongside the Green King range to a pint of Spartan from Milton. The main complaint comes from a rugby fan who asked for a small screen to be switched from football to rugby and was refused, even though the area was empty and the large screen also showed football. Others mention a pub quiz, a good darts set up, and Sunday live music after 8pm that is not overbearingly loud.

“One of the best pubs in the area and one I've been visiting now and again for many years. They have a fun pub quiz and a better set up for darts than most other pubs in Cambridge. Also shows lots of sports events.”

“The alma. Have you ever had the pleasure of visiting the alma? Best pub I've ever been to in Alma-life. Genuinely alma / 10. The alma's alma-sphere was incredible. When we walked into the Alma, there were 6 people? A few minutes later? There were none. Genuinely Alma-azing. I ordered an AlMadri to drink. The bartender was Alma-erican. Which i thought was very. When i left the pub, i even saw an OWL-ma 🦉🍺 Next time i return to the Alma, i will bring my Alma-banian 🇦🇱🇦🇱 friend called Alma-lie to come visit. This is the best pub ever, i mean it. Alma-ctually. I would spend Alma money here, maybe even alm-illion great British pounds. Alma/10”

“Great ol pub, they screen literally any sport you could want under the sun, stable food and beer in a chill not too busy environment. Kinda love it, has become a stable for a pint on a sport watching afternoon”

“The Alma is a large open plan pub. Although it is a Green King pub it normally also serves a couple of guest beers, which in my experience have always been very good. There are a number of large screens, which show major sports events, particularly rugby. Gets very busy for rugby nationals but generally not excessively rowdy. If you don't enjoy sports it's best to check the website first and make sure there is nothing scheduled to clash with you planned visit.”
