Customer Review Summary
Fortune House Chinese Takeaway draws mixed feedback, with a cluster of reviewers praising the special chaomian and beef or pork fried rice as generous, well-priced portions that arrive hot and not overly oily or salty, making them a repeat choice for families. Several describe the food as delicious, fresh, and delivered quickly, with fair prices and large portions singled out repeatedly. However, a recurring set of complaints runs through the negative reviews: dishes described as dry, tasteless, or undercooked, with specific mentions of rock-hard chips, sauce-free chow mein, and chewy or hard sweet and sour chicken. One reviewer reports finding a long black hair in the crispy chilli beef carton, and another says the house special chow mein had an odd brown colour and may have been off. Service issues also surface, including a missing part of a delivery order, prices changed from the quoted menu without notice, and a delivery charge that one customer felt was excessive for a short distance, with the business unwilling to resolve the problem. A few note that most dishes seem padded out with onion, and one reviewer advises calling ahead to order because the shop is often busy.

“Not going back food was rubbish, and not cooked enough and was really chewy”

“Really disappointed with the service. I was charged £8 for delivery even though I live literally 10 minutes up the road, which seems excessive. On top of that, part of my order was missing when it arrived. To make things worse, two of the prices were changed from what I was told over the phone compared to the menu, which wasn’t made clear when ordering. When I called to sort it out, they didn’t seem interested in resolving it properly and wouldn’t let me come and collect the missing items or send what I’d originally ordered out to me. Overall, poor communication and not great customer service. I wouldn’t rush back.”

“Popped in and ordered food, prawn toast, prawn crackers, chicken chow mein, chips and salt and pepper king prawns, all of it just had no taste to it and everything was so dry, chips rock hard and dry, chow mein absolutely no taste and no sauce dry and tasteless, won't be going back there ever again,”

“Best Chinese takeaway in the area in my opinion. Food always delicious, hot and delivered very quickly. We have tried many different dishes and enjoyed all of them. Big portions and very reasonable prices. Highly recommend 👌 …”
