Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast is the main draw. One diner describes a lamb and beef roast with a massive portion and meat that melted, and another calls the Sunday roasts wonderful. Close behind is the old school, proper boozer atmosphere, described as friendly, cozy and rustic, with a pool table, regulars and a chilled pub dog that reviewers single out. Two reviewers mention Thursday live music, folk in one account and Irish jamming in another. Drinks earn praise for proper ciders and ales, including a pint of Jail Ale, and a couple of reviewers call the prices good, though one finds the selection only ok. A mixed grill came out fast, and staff are called friendly and attentive, with one bar worker greeting a party almost as soon as they walked in. The one caveat comes from a diner who waited a little while for the roast on a busy Sunday. Another reviewer says their greyhound is totally at home here.

“"A Proper Pub for Proper People" it proclaims on the outside. I'd have to agree, being one of the customers, especially with a delicious pint of Jail Ale (Dartmoor Brewery) in my 'and”

“Came here on a whim sunday afternoon, the atmosphere is almost as if you’re stepping back into the 1960’s, friendly, warming, old school and rustic. Major old school boozer! We ordered a lamb and beef roast, although the wait was a little while (they were very busy, and we didn’t mind being in such a cool pub!) the roast was steaming, massive portion and the meat just melted in our mouths!! Honestly the best sunday experience we have ever had. Definitely will be back :)”
