Customer Review Summary
Tonkotsu ramen is the draw most reviewers return to, especially the Tokyo tonkotsu, with a broth described as rich without being greasy, finished with black garlic oil, and noodles called springy or chewy yet soft. The pork chashu is described as tender and melt-in-the-mouth, and one reviewer rates the pork tan tan even higher than the spicy tonkotsu. Close behind are the sides: takoyaki, yasai gyoza with a crisp crust, karaage that is crispy outside and juicy inside, and a Korean chicken bao bun. Reviewers also like the choice of portion sizes and vegetarian bowls such as soymilk ramen. Staff are called friendly and polite, and a Japanese chef and a Japanese-speaking waitress are mentioned. The main drawback is demand. Several mention queues outside at peak hours, and one was disappointed to learn by phone that there are no advance bookings or takeout. Service is still described as swift, with one diner noting a second drink arrived immediately when requested.

“One of my favorite Japanese places in Brighton! The raman is always great and full of flavour! I always order the tonkotsu raman with a side of takoyaki which are honestly the best and could eat more than 20 of them! 😅 Always look forward to coming back! Plus the staff are very polite.”

“As always Goemon Ramen is amazing, the food and drink was delicious and the atmosphere and music was lovely, we both got pork ramen bowls and I had a lovely whiskey and ginger ale cocktail - the best part of the experience by far though was our amazing server Ami!!! She was lovely to us and was obviously working super hard dashing around, I asked for another drink halfway through my meal and it was there immediately- definitely coming back and hoping to have Ami as our server again!! 10/10 service”

“I tried Goemon Ramen Bar in Brighton and must say we were really impressed. The broth was rich, fragrant, and perfectly balanced, with noodles that were chewy yet soft just right. The pork chashu melted in our mouths. The cozy little shop exudes a genuine Japanese vibe, making it a great spot for delicious ramen in Brighton. 🍜 The staff were friendly and efficient, serving us quickly. However, I was a bit disappointed when I called to inquire about reservations—the restaurant doesn’t accept advance bookings or offer takeout. But I can understand since the place is always bustling with diners. If you visit this city, I highly recommend giving it a try.”

“Since visiting Japan last year we’ve had regular cravings for great ramen - we now know where we need to go. We got there for opening at midday and were shown straight to a table by a very friendly waitress. Our order was taken quickly and the food came a short time later. The yasai gyoza was sublime served with a crust binding the six together- delicious. The Korean chicken bao bun was a delight - perfect combo of flavours, spicy and tasty. The Tokyo tonkotsu ramen is delicious - the stock is rich, multi layered with flavours and awesome toppings. The noodles are fresh with perfect texture. The staff were all brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit, we’ll be back. Arigato gozaimashita!”
