Quick info
About The New Wellington
The New Wellington is a restaurant and tavern in Brierley Hill, on Brettell Ln, built around a Sunday carvery where a server carves the roasted meats at the carvery area. Plates come with large Yorkshire puddings and a wide choice of vegetables, with onion or normal gravy available. Flapjack and cheesecake are among the pudding options. Buffet breakfasts run alongside the traditional pub menu. The bar pours guest ales among its beers, and the pub holds live events. Groups can book the full menu, with meal choices collected in advance. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come mainly for the carvery, praising tender roast meat, big Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and a vegetable selection one diner calls unmatched anywhere. Close behind are the staff, described again and again as friendly and helpful, including the server behind the bar and the chef carving the meat. Beyond the roast, diners name a Caribbean chicken with rice and coleslaw, a freshly made beef cob, a mac and cheese big enough for one, and cheesecake and flapjack for pudding. Others mention a good beer range with guest ales, a children's play area and a clean venue. One group organised a meal for 35 guests with the full menu available. The complaints are small but specific: one reviewer found the carvery area stifling hot on a warm evening, another says the car park has potholes, and one found the hot wings far spicier than expected. A reviewer who travels from Birmingham each Sunday sums up the pull of the place by splitting the flapjack after a cheesecake each.

“Called in for lunch. Caribbean Chicken, rice, coleslaw & salad was delicious & presented beautifully. Carvery was plentiful, loads of veg with onion or normal gravy available. Staff were all lovely especially Lakesha & Sarah. Highly recommend!”

“Popped in the New Wellington at lunch time for a quick pint and snack. I was greeted by the welcoming Lakesha and served by friendly Sarah. I ordered a beef cob and was pleasantly surprised that I got a freshly made very tasty cob with salad. The staff seemed genuinely happy to help and it was a lovely pit stop on my way home, all to a back drop off 80s classics. Lovely pub with amazing staff.”

“My favourite carvery! Genuinely travel from Birmingham on a Sunday just to go to the new Wellington and it's worth the journey every time. Food is fantastic. Veg selection is unmatched by anywhere I've ever been and the meat is always quality too. Staff are so friendly and helpful, Adam and Kieran are my personal faves but everyone is lovely 😊 First time having pudding there today. Couldn't choose between the flapjack or cheesecake so we had a cheesecake each and split the flapjack. Both absolutely to die for 🤤 Just can't recommend this place enough. Thank you to the staff for making every visit a memorable one! Keep up the good work team 💙”

“First time visitors this evening and were initially impressed by being attended to as soon as we walked through the door. The young man who greeted us was friendly yet professional and we noticed how hard he worked throughout the evening- he is a real credit to the pub. The young lady behind the bar who worked alone went through the queue seamlessly and efficiently - she too was friendly and very professional. Our food was very good. The young man serving the meat was very nice and gave generous portions - we especially liked the big Yorkies! Our only gripe was the heat - it was a very hot evening outside and the carvery area was absolutely stifling hot. However, we didn’t let it detract from a lovely evening. We will without doubt be back - right on our doorstep and lives up to its excellent reputation - thank you all.”
