About The Royle

Upstairs dining at The Royle on Bridgnorth's High Street looks out across the main road, with the ground floor running as a pub and the kitchen covering a broad restaurant menu alongside it. The line-up moves from Crispy Pork with hand-cut chips and Garlic Mushrooms through lasagne to steak fillet and steak burger meals, served with gratin and garlic bread, with cheesecake on the dessert side. Sunday lunch roast anchors the end-of-week offering, and dogs are welcome through the door. The site previously traded as Baileys Bistro, and the same kitchen team now runs the room. Walk-ins are taken when space allows, and the pub side keeps a straightforward counter service for drinks and lighter meals.

Customer Review Summary

The single most-mentioned draw is the food, especially the Sunday lunch and steak dishes, which several diners describe as superb and the best Sunday roast they have had. Close behind is the service, repeatedly called excellent, friendly, and professional even when the pub was busy. A few note the upstairs specials board sits awkwardly over diners below, though most return or plan to, often recommending booking ahead.

“Just popped in for a drink pre dinner. Wow what a place highlighting what today's pubs can be. Nice environment, friendly staff, good beer, and good food judging by others reviews. Just a great place. Needless we returned post dinner drinks and to our regret probably should have booked dinner here. Ah well next time. Thanks guys.”

“We tried to book here a year ago, but like all good establishment's, we had to be lucky. So we booked it today, on the off chance and it was our lucky day. It was a 6 o'clock booking and probably the first customers of the evening service. We were taken upstairs to a table of 2, with views accross the main street, where they were filming across the way. Decided on the Crispy Pork, with hand cut chips and Garlic Mushrooms, whilst the wife went for the Lasagne. Great choices, of which there were many, with both dishes being really well presented, hot and tasty. Mmmmm they were good and so were the staff that served us, professional, polite and efficient. Really enjoyed the food on offer and would highly recommend. The wife had the cheescake, she that as well.”

“We used here regularly when it was Baileys Bistro, visited yesterday and had 4 meals, 2 steak fillets and 2 steak burger meals, gratin and garlic bread. Food really was delicious, service very friendly.. couldn’t fault it, and I’m a difficult one to please. The only thing that I didn’t like was the specials board placed on the next level. I was trying to read it but the poor people eating beneath the sign must have hated everyone standing literally over them to see the menu. I gave up out of respect and just ordered from the main menu. Would be nice to have a special board by the bar or in the ground floor area at least.. just a bit of a gripe but would have made a big difference. Summary.. WONDERFUL FOOD AND AMAZING SERVICE.”

“Came for a Sunday lunch having caught the train up to Bridgnorth and it did not disappoint. Best Pub Sunday lunch I’ve had possibly ever. I highly recommend! It was busy so I recommend booking a table.”
