About Bonnies Cafe
Bonnies Cafe is a cafe in Brentwood, set on the village green at 1 Hunters Chase, that holds flower arranging events alongside its afternoon tea, so a craft session and a sit-down tea can share one visit. The afternoon tea comes with sandwiches, including a veggie option, plus scones and a selection of cakes. The owner bakes the cakes herself, and the lemon and blueberry cake and the Victoria sponge are among them. A cream tea is also served for a lighter order. When the weather warms up, the drinks list adds cold coffees, smoothies, shakes and iced teas.

Customer Review Summary
Afternoon tea is the most frequent draw, with reviewers describing generous portions, homemade cakes cut in good wedges, veggie sandwiches and scones, and food choices that were accommodated. Several attended the flower arranging event followed by afternoon tea, and some took leftovers home in boxes. Close behind are the cakes, including the lemon and blueberry cake and a Victoria sponge with a cream tea, which one reviewer calls the best cakes in the area. Others mention the summer cold coffees, smoothies, shakes and iced teas. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and attentive, and the cafe is described as family run with home cooked food, including a warm welcome for a visiting poodle. The criticism concerns the cooked breakfast: one reviewer found the bacon hard and the rashers small, the egg ordinary and the toast a letdown, and felt the camping cutlery with plastic handles made the meal feel cheap for the price. Another reviewer wanted more security staff in the garden after an evening disturbance, though that person still praised the small team.

“I have been coming into bonnies for the whole year since opening and have always found the venue to be safe, friendly and inviting however what I witnessed last night has left me in fear returning to bonnies. I was sitting in the garden having drinks with friends when a fight broke out, this foght broke out not only once but twice, leaving everyone very vulnerable. I watched security arrive and it was only Joe and a smaller security guard that were trying to hold down two aggressors and control a hostile crowd. I actually felt that this was a very dangerous situation when the crowd turned hostile towards both security guards, luckily security managed to remove the aggressor and calm the situation down but after the incident we did not see security for the rest of the evening and no more security in the garden only quick walk through even though there was still some hostility in the garden. Also noticed over the last couple of months more males in the venue that are approaching females and making them feel very uncomfortable. I don't want to stop coming to bonnies as it's very local and I've always enjoyed it but I do feel lately security and my safety is a genuine concern. But would like to praise the small team you do have as they do a fantastic job.”

“Really lovely local, family feel cafe. Delicious home cooked food. We popped in with our little Poodle and the staff are very friendly and welcoming - to canines and humans! We have just moved to the area so will definitely be back.”
