About Brecon Tap
Brecon Tap is an independent pub in Brecon, at 6 Bulwark, where the kitchen makes its pies on site every morning. The pie list includes beef and mushroom and pork & tarragon, and English and Welsh pub classics such as sausage & mash fill out the rest of the menu. At the bar, cask ales rotate, and local beers sit alongside keg, bottle and can choices. Craft beers, spirits, wine and alcohol-free options complete the drinks list. Walk-ins are seated without a reservation, and dogs are welcome inside.

Customer Review Summary
Pies are what reviewers return to most, with the beef pie and the mushroom, pork and tarragon pie singled out as delicious, and one visitor stopping in twice for them. Close behind is the beer, with several praising the cask ales, craft selection and quality cans to take away, and a bartender described as knowledgeable. Others mention sausage and mash, cauliflower wings, a pulled beef Sunday lunch and chicken schnitzel. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and several note that dogs were welcome. The criticisms are small and specific. One diner found the pastry on a chicken pie too thick, another felt a pie was spoiled by too long in the microwave, and one couple were startled by bottles being thrown into a container. One visitor who doesn't drink alcohol was helped by staff to choose from a wide range of beers.

“Popped in without a reservation, very welcoming and friendly staff seated us and helped us decide what to drink (I'm alcohol free and don't usually have a huge choice of beers, but was absolutely spoilt for choice here hence needed the help)! Then came the food. I had sausage & mash and genuinely think they might have been the best sausages I have ever had in my life. Boyfriend had mushroom, pork & tarragon pie with chips which were also unbelievably good. Huge recommend!!”

“Brilliant independent business, we were visiting Brecon for a holiday with our dog and we were made to feel very welcome by the lovely staff here. A young lady named Sophie was paticularly helpful and friendly. She made a great effort to help us with local knowledge. So thank you for that. My husband and i shared a pie, the beef. It was totally delicious 😋 wish we had more time to try another, but sadly we didnt. Great place to visit.”

“A nice place with friendly service. The beer was excellent. I had a pie which was obviously high quality but had been somewhat spoiled by excessive time in the microwave.”
