About Cafe Raja's

Serving food late into the night, with orders still going in around 1am, Cafe Raja's is a Pakistani restaurant and grill on Great Horton Rd in Bradford that suits late-night eating as well as daytime meals. Ordering and payment happen at the counter, and servers bring the food out to the tables. The kitchen works across grill and curry cooking, from a mixed grill to chicken karahi served with daal and rice, alongside cafe-style plates such as a steak burger with chips, beans and a drink. Reservations are recommended. Outdoor seats give the option of eating outside, and high chairs make room for families with young children, while a step-free entrance helps visitors with mobility needs get in. Food also goes out for takeaway and delivery, including through apps such as Uber Eats, for anyone eating at home. The doors open daily, and the same counter handles desserts and breakfast alongside the grill orders.

Customer Review Summary

Late night visits anchor much of the praise, with one group singling out chicken karhai and starters ordered around 1am and the server who kept orders moving even while the place was busy. Close behind sit the daal, the rice one visitor calls among the best they have had, and grill dishes arriving on a massive, piping hot iron tawa that draws comment for its presentation. Longtime customers describe food that is fresh and full of flavour over many years, and the waiting staff are repeatedly called friendly, polite and helpful. The complaints recur and carry weight. One diner reports the grilled steak burger arriving undercooked and too chewy to bite, and describes being given incorrect change twice at the counter and met with attitude when raising it. A delivery order came missing the second item of a buy one get one offer, with the manager telling the customer the fault was theirs, and the grilled fish reduced to tails. Another found soggy bread and a tiny portion of beans, though the kitchen sent a replacement bun at no charge.

“The food at times is very good but isn’t consistent. The grilled steak burger when cooked properly is tender and goes down a treat. Sadly, the last time I ordered, it was undercooked and was very difficult to eat. The meat was very chewy and I couldn’t bite much of it from the burger. The chap behind the counter doesn’t seem to know what ‘service with a smile’ is and always seems stressed out and in a hurry and worse yet he over charges at times or doesn’t give the correct change and then responds with an attitude when he is told. I ordered a steak burger meal which is listed as £5.95 for the burger and an extra £1.95 for the chips and a drink. That’s £7.90. I gave him £10 and only received £2 change! I have no idea why business owners think it’s OK to do this. This is becoming common in many establishments. If you don’t want to give small change, set your prices at whole pounds so you don’t end up cheating your customers. The two times I have been here recently I have had issues with the amount being charged and change given for my order. The waiters are very helpful and always polite and friendly. They are a credit to the business. Overall it’s a bit of a risk to visit this place as you don’t quite know what you are going to get, but is worth a try, especially late at night when there aren’t too many options available.”

“The presentation is a 10/10 for impact. Served on a massive, piping-hot iron tawa, the variety is impressive and mouth watery.”

“Horrible place to deal with, not because of food but the manager, ordered an offer on u ereats buy 1 get 1 free, got 1 item only with rest of my order what was mixed grill , called the shop and manager instead of sorting the problem out tells me its my fault i didnt select 2 items, you offering buy1 get 1 free so are you guys so thick to send just 1 instead of 2 and then telling customer its your fault, food was decent apart from this and the tails of fish they send which they mentioned as 2 pieces of grill fish, attached are the photos of those great fish pieces ,tell me was it a grill fish piece or skin dipped in marination and packed to go, i could give this manager all this food right in the face(only if he was infront of me), put some decent managers on the reception Cafe rajas. Veri disappointing experience.nothing like it used to be”
