Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly, welcoming staff, with the servers described as attentive and one solo diner saying she was made to feel genuinely welcome. On the food, the Steak and Ale pie is called the star of one visit, and others mention the Sunday roast with a nut roast or beef and cauliflower cheese, a sticky toffee pudding, salt and pepper chicken gyros, sandwiches and a full breakfast with coffees. Close behind is the setting: a real open fire, an indoor terrace looking out to the golf course and parkland, and a dog friendly welcome both inside the bar and outside. The house wine and drinks at the bar also earn praise. The main caveat comes from a three-star visit where the steaks were overcooked, the chips tasted frozen and the price felt above average for the food. Another reviewer found the flat bread on the gyros quite hard. Several mention food arriving quickly, and one couple returning after their wedding breakfast were given their coffees free of charge.

“My son, dig and I, had to kill time and grab lunch while we waited for my partner and our daughter who were at a party nearby. We found this place online, through reviews and were not disappointed. Ample parking, warm welcome from friendly staff who made us all, including our dog, feel very welcome. Easily seated in a cool environment on a very hot day. Food was reasonably priced and exceptional quality. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back with the other half of the family. Thanks for having us.”

“I came here with my partner for breakfast last month. We sat in the indoor terrace which is lovely and light and you can look out to the parkland. Our waitress Becca, was brilliant, friendly and hospitable. The food was delicious and all the staff are lovely. I have been here again recently for lunch with a friend.”

“We booked this venue after looking at the reviews posted online. Can I start by saying the staff are amazing! Very friendly, attentive and professional… however I’m afraid the food doesn’t come up to the same standards. We had a couple of steaks, over cooked and I’m afraid the chips tasted like they were from frozen, I really hope that’s not the case. It pains me to write a poor review when the welcome and staff interaction was so positive. We paid an above average price for very below average food. Very sorry.”

“I had a wonderful experience dining here. As a woman eating on my own, I was made to feel genuinely welcome from the moment I arrived. A special thank you to Becca, who was so warm, friendly and attentive. She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and her kindness really made my visit. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was lovely and the service was outstanding throughout. I never felt out of place and I truly appreciated the warm welcome from everyone. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back when next in the area. Thank you, Becca and the whole team for a lovely experience.”

I find the atmosphere is always calm and peaceful. Really can’t fault this place at all. I love it 🙂 Special thanks to Becca for being a fabulous host!”
