Customer Review Summary
Themed food nights draw the most praise, with diners describing a Spanish night with a singer and plenty of food cooked to perfection, and a Thai takeaway meal deal they call high quality and reasonably priced. Afternoon tea comes close behind, enjoyed by a work team, and one reviewer notes it must be booked in advance. Others mention a chicken Caesar salad with wine at lunch, a daytime menu and cakes, and a glass-walled interior that reflects the old print works. Staff and the manager are repeatedly called friendly and helpful. The complaints are specific. One breakfast diner felt ignored when a waitress laid items on the table mid-meal without a greeting, then chatted with regulars nearby. Another found the cold drinks limited, with unfamiliar pop and no smoothie. A guest at an upstairs event found the room small and cramped, with a stage only about 2 metres wide. Afternoon tea guests still left with a goody box to take home.

“Great, simple place. There wasn't a wide range of cold drinks—the pop wasn't quite what I'm used to (though I'm sure it's to someone's taste) and I wasn't able to order a smoothie either. However, the food was lovely, and the location is great and cosy. Would go back again.”

“I arrived at about 10.30am for breakfast. There was a short queue before being served a friendly and polite gentleman at the till. The food was ok, for the price I can't complain. However halfway through my meal a waitress came to my little table and instead of offering a greeting or in fact any kind of acknowledgement that there was a patron currently eating, proceeded to lay out things on the table. I understand that things need to happen throughout the day, but a simple good morning and quick explanation of what was happening would have been much more appropriate. There were some regulars at the table opposite to me which the waitress spent some time chatting to, before once again treating my table as if I wasn't actually there or completely unimportant or irrelevant and putting more things on the table I was currently eating on. Based on that I would not visit again, I don't expect special treatment, but certainly not to be treated like I'm invisible.”

“I visited one of the event spaces above the kitchen and bar area at Leeds City College not the venue itself. I am not sure about wether the event was organised separate from the kitchen and bar or in conjunction with. The college supplied the catering which was pleasant. There was a variety of cold foods such as wraps, cous cous, samosas and onion bajis. There was one round of complimentary drinks then the rest were to purchase. The location was quite small and cramped for the number of people attending and the stage was only about 2 metres wide (not sure if that feature could be adjusted). I enjoyed the evening and the staff were all lovely, very attentive and pleasant to talk with.”
