About Lindley Tap Bar & Grill

Lindley Tap Bar & Grill sits on Lidget Street in Huddersfield, a bar and grill where diners order at the counter or get table service at the table. The kitchen runs the standard grill menu alongside daily food specials, with steak and ale pie, fajitas and a hanging kebab among the regular dishes. Homemade chunky chips and mushy peas are served with the meals, and the Friday fish deal brings fish, chips, peas, curry sauce and bread and butter. Real ales sit alongside a wide drinks list behind the bar. Dogs are welcome inside, and the room takes walk-ins through the week.

Customer Review Summary

One detailed, lower-rated visit describes a fly landing in a drink and a subsequent standoff at the bar over being charged for the replacement pint, with the reviewer characterising the response from a person who appeared to be in charge and from one bar worker as abrupt and unwelcoming, enough to put the whole party off returning. That account stands apart from the otherwise positive pattern of feedback.

“Came here with a group of 10 friends last night. Food was amazing, The Steak & Ale pie was exceptional, full of tender beef, best I have ever had. The fish was huge, lovely and White and lightly battered. Proper home made chunky chips & proper mushy peas. Some had the Fajitas and some the hanging kebab, they thoroughly enjoyed them. Staff were attentive. The Chef was lovely, made the effort to come out to chat to us. We will definitely be going back.”

“Visited a few times, its nice inside but the bar staff are not very friendly especially one lady with long hair, she never smiles and is quite abrupt. Was there with friends this week, a fly landed in my friends beer, he took the drink to the bar and asked if they had a spoon to remove the fly. The lady with the long hair took the glass off him and walked away. The second bar lady poured another pint for my friend and asked him to pay for it; my friend is a very quiet man and didn't like to say anything. I went to the bar and politely said that I didn't think that he should pay because he'd asked for a spoon to remove the fly but the drink was taken from him. A guy sitting near the bar, he looked like he was the steward/owner of Lindley Tap was quite abrupt and rude and asked if my friend had requested a spoon to remove the fly. I said that he definitely did and that the drink was taken away, therefore I felt that it was unfair that he should pay for a second drink that he'd not asked for. He told the bar lady not to charge him but he was clearly put out that he had to give away a free drink. For the remainder of our time that we were in Lindley Tap, the lady with the long hair kept looking at us with a stern look and was clearly talking about us with the other barmaid. It probably won't make any difference to them but we certainly won't be going back.”

“Good local pub, serving a wide range of drinks, including a couple of real ales. We had the "Fish Friday" deal, which was excellent. The nicest piece of fish I've had for a while, served with chips, peas and curry sauce (and bread and butter which we didn't have)... all for £25. We've also had other good food here in the past, and would recommend.”

“Absolutely amazing little place. Would highly recommend!”

“This is a really good pub and eating places. You can order at the bar or there is table service if you are eating. They have a special offer each day which is a saving against the standard menu price. The service was good and the food was excellent.”
