Quick info
About The Brothers
The Brothers is a takeaway on Linacre Ln in Bootle, at number 84, that pairs a chip shop menu with Chinese dishes, so one order can cover both styles of food. On the chip shop side, the fish dinner is served with chips and peas, and curry sauce comes alongside the chips. The Chinese side of the menu includes won ton soup, and salt and pepper ribs come with salt and pepper chips. Chips are sold in different portion sizes, including large, which makes it easy to scale an order to the table.

Customer Review Summary
The fish is what reviewers raise most, and mostly as a complaint. Several describe rock hard batter that was like hard cardboard, fish so rubbery it could not be cut with a knife, and portions that arrived freezing cold, greasy or flavourless, with one saying it did not taste like cod. Chinese dishes draw similar criticism: soggy duck spring rolls and prawn toast, flavourless won ton soup, burnt fried rice with big lumps, and a Special Peking that arrived lukewarm. One reviewer found the curry sauce lumpy, and another says chip portions have shrunk in recent months while still being sold as large. A few reviewers are happier. One praises a Chinese order that came piping hot and delicious, another calls the Special Peking portions substantial, and a third got two pies, chips and curry sauce that were hot all the way through, with sauce thick enough to stick to every chip.

“The foods normally good to be honest but the last few months they have got an obsession with giving you tiny chip portions and sell them as large, I'm sure they count the chips before giving you them now and the fact they charge them as large is laughable , blatantly ripping people off .”

“Got 2 pies, chips and curry sauce, was spot on. The pies were hot all the way through, chips were fresh and the sauce was thick so it actually stuck to every chip. Deffo going again”
