About Tavern
Tavern is a pub in Blackburn at 26-28 Church St, with a drinks list that runs from local ales and craft beers to a few spirits. Games are part of the visit, with a pool table that takes contactless payment and a darts board. Football is shown on live games across many TVs, so match days are covered. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring a pet along. The team describes the pub as easy to find and invites groups of friends to join them.

Customer Review Summary
Live football is the draw most reviewers raise, with the pub showing games on what one calls a million tellys, and several describe a great atmosphere when a match is on. Pool, darts and a beer garden at the back come close behind, and one reviewer notes it is dog and family friendly. Drinkers mention a good beer selection, including local ales and craft beers, poured well. The staff are repeatedly called friendly, brilliant and quick to serve, and one reviewer praises the landlord as a welcoming host. Another says a staff member went above and beyond with help for their event. The recurring complaint is price. One reviewer calls a pint in Great Harwood mental, and another says the persistent price rises are disgraceful for a pub once known as the cheapest in town, with the three closest pubs said to be cheaper across the board. Even so, those same reviewers still call the staff fantastic and excellent, and several say they will be back for the new football season.

“Was in at the weekend there was a great atmosphere when the football was on and all the bar staff I saw were excellent. Only downside was the prices! £6.20 for a pint in Great Harwood is mental!!! It’s not Manchester! It’s not ribble valley!”

“Love the tavern, staff are always fantastic but the persistent price rises are disgraceful!! Tav was always know for being the cheapest place in town but it’s now the most expensive!! The 3 closest pubs are 50p-£1 cheaper across the board!”

“Danny at the Tavern goes above and beyond! Great pub, great atmosphere, amazing and friendly staff. You couldn't ask for more. Theres not enough thanks we could give for everything he helped us with for our event! 100% recommend The Tavern as the pub to go to!”

“Dropped into The Tavern for a few drinks and was genuinely impressed. It’s got that classic pub feel — warm, welcoming, and full of character. The atmosphere strikes a great balance between lively and relaxed, making it ideal for both a casual pint or a proper night out. The staff were friendly, quick to serve, and clearly knew their stuff. There’s a great selection of local ales, craft beers, and a few quality spirits. Everything was poured perfectly and served with a smile. All in all, The Tavern is the kind of place you’re glad to stumble upon, and even more glad to return to. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys good drinks, good vibes, and a proper pub experience.”
