Customer Review Summary

Chicken is the focus, and reviewers split on it. One describes nice, meaty, juicy pieces, and the spicy sauce on the sizzler wings earns praise, though those wings were not sizzling. Others call the chicken the cheapest kind, say the drumsticks were hard to get down, or that a chicken burger tasted cooked, left sitting and reheated. Staff get mixed notes: one helpful employee suggested items that were not on the menu board, while a till worker seemed lost taking an order. Reviewers also mention a long wait on a small order, a classic chicken burger being unavailable, and plenty of seating. One parent left upset at explicit lyrics playing with young children present, and a tourist called the late-night crowd a wild atmosphere. Fries are the close second topic and just as uneven. Some find them a nice size, but others got them almost raw or soft and oily, and one diner was served one portion of cold fries from the holding area and another fresh from the fryer.

“Why would you give 1 portion off cold fries from holding scuttle and 1 fresh from fryer definitely your holding area is bellow 57c 60c please Mr Manager do your job speak to staff”

“Visited Dixy Chicken on Broad Street recently. The restaurant was spacious, looked clean, and I noticed they have a 5-star food hygiene rating, which is always a positive. Staff were fine and it's a good option if you're looking for somewhere open late in the city centre. As for the food, it was okay, but nothing that really stood out for me personally. There are several local chicken shops around the Black Country and Birmingham area that I feel offer similar quality for a lower price. Places like Caledonia, Chicken Hut and other independent takeaways provide good value for money. Overall, not a bad experience at all, just average food in my opinion. Clean environment, plenty of seating and convenient location. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.”

“Stopped by as a tourist after having some beers elsewhere. The meat is absolute trash (drumsticks), you need to be drunk to get this down. Fries where decent. But atmosphere was an outstanding experience - wild place :D”

“Was pleasantly surprised when I went into huge chicken shop they can see 200 people lucky for me there was only a few people in there the time of the day but imagine at night time after a few beers that place is heaving. Menu boards could be better, but the staff was very helpful and suggested a few things that wasn’t even on the board. Ask for four pieces of chicken but no drumsticks and that’s what I got nice meaty pieces of juicy chicken. Had some sort of chilli mayo very hot fries were a nice size portion.”

“The worst experience I have ever had in my life. I spent £10 for chicken burger meal and the chicken was just terrible. It was as if the chicken was cooked then left it for the whole day and recooked it or heat it again in oil. The fries wasn’t crispy it was soft and oily. The person that was on till taking my order couldn’t understand why I said and was just lost. Doesn’t know what he’s doing. Absolutely not worth the price. Never going there ever again.”
