About Chris's Cafe

Chris's Cafe is a cafe on Digbeth in Birmingham, near Moore Street station and around the corner from the coach station. The menu runs from a full English breakfast to a smaller "little" breakfast for lighter appetites, with vegetarian and vegan options alongside breakfast sandwiches and wraps. Tea or coffee comes included with the breakfast price, and a cheeseburger and chips sit on the menu for those after something else. Service is at the table, with breakfast brought out once ordered, and it operates on a walk-in basis rather than taking bookings. The cafe opens daily through the daytime only. It draws a steady stream of custom given the nearby transport links, so seating can fill up during busier stretches.

Customer Review Summary

Full English breakfast is what reviewers return to most, with diners praising the meat as well cooked, the bread alongside it, and a plateful that arrives hot and not greasy. Close behind is the vegetarian breakfast, described as tasty, with vegan and vegetarian options noted by another. Groups and solo visitors also mention a small breakfast, breakfast sandwiches and wraps, a bacon sandwich, and a cheeseburger and chips with coffee, all described as nice or delicious. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and one diner says the team took their order carefully and showed them to their seats. Several mention that food reached the table hot, including a group of seven. Reviewers also describe the cafe as a local alternative to chain cafes, and a few note its closeness to the coach and train stations. No complaints appear in the reviews. Several say breakfast comes with tea or coffee included, and one describes a free drink, a nice milky coffee, arriving with the full English, all served with a smile.

“Not a place I know, Birmingham. After 2 hours of walking, my companion and I were hungry. British breakfast. Directed by council workers to Chris's cafe. Great staff took care of everything. Took our order so nicely and carefully. Showed us to seats. Brought breakfast to our table. Lovely warm comfortable place. Good local knowledge and children chat. Breakfast so hot as it sat down at the table. Well cooked, serviettes with cutlery. Wonderful respite for us. Marvellous meal and company 👌 😋.”

“Staff friendly, food excellent. We had the full English cooked breakfast. Got a plateful, tasted delicious. I was quite surprised it was only £23 for 2 large breakfasts and 2x Latte. Definitely recommend and just around corner from coach station.”

“Really nice little cafe. Myself and my partner were visiting Birmingham and didn't want the chain type cafes. So a quick Google search and I came across this cafe. 5 mins walk from Moore street station. We both had cheeseburger and chips and a coffee which were all really nice. Nice service and a busy little cafe.”

“The food is nice and the atmosphere is lovely. Not so many local cafes are still running in Birmingham, so I really appreciate the business. All the best,”
