About Lee Garden

Lee Garden is a Chinese restaurant at 14-18 Botanic Ave in Belfast, built around a dim sum menu. The dim sum comes in baskets of 4 pieces, and the dumplings include prawn and shrimp versions such as the Salad Prawn Dumpling. A sharing appetiser plate gathers peking boneless spare ribs, crispy seaweed, chicken satay, vegetable spring rolls and sesame prawn toast on one dish. For a heartier order, the kitchen serves roast duck with rice. The dining room has window seats and round banquet tables that suit groups. Green tea is served alongside the dim sum.

Customer Review Summary

Dim sum draws the most attention, with reviewers praising the big, well-steamed prawns, the Salad Prawn Dumpling, gyoza steamed then pan-fried, potstickers and light coconut haupia to finish. One diner who avoids fish and beef still found plenty to eat. Close behind are the mains and sharing plates: roast duck with rice, crispy pork with rice, the three bbq combo rice, and a signature appetiser plate where the sesame prawn toast stood out. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and quick. The criticism is specific. One reviewer found the lunch dim sum short on variety and flavour, though dinner impressed them. Another called the portions small for the price, objected to an added service charge, and said the manager likened the food business model to McDonalds, which ruined a Valentine's meal. One diner found the chairs uncomfortable for eating. Others single out the green tea at lunch and an owner they found humble and knowledgeable.

“Food was great we had the three bbq combo rice and some starters such as dunplins. It was fabulous, worth visiting if you are in Belfast. Definitely coming back. Chairs could be a little uncomfortable specially for eating as I had to lean forward to reach the table apart from that was a great experience.”

“Get there before 4 pm for amazing dim sum! We visited for lunch dim sum: omg the prawns are huge, everything with shrimp has big bold beautiful shrimp and is perfectly steamed, or in the case of gyoza, steamed then pan-fried. Perfect! Two of us (barely!!!) polished off 4 baskets (each dim sum basket has 4 pieces) and a plate of potstickers and finished up with lovely Hawaiian-style haupia (coconut rectangles, light and refreshing). Tbh, three baskets would have been generous enough, we knew we would never need supper when finished. Very attentive staff, too ❤️”

“Went for dim sum and it was lovely. First time trying it and it was great, I am a picky eater and don't eat fish or beef but found stuff I could eat and it was delicious. The staff were so friendly and service was impeccable.”
