Golden China
Quick info
About Golden China
Golden China is a Chinese takeaway at 57 Castlereagh Rd in Belfast, where chicken cheese spring rolls and a "munch box" sit on the menu alongside the usual takeaway dishes. The box meals give customers a ready-packed option, and the kitchen also puts together a starter platter of ribs, prawn toast and chicken skewers. Curries, chow mein and fried rice dishes make up the main part of the range, with beef and chicken among the options. Salted chilli ribs cover the spicier end of the menu. Orders are made for collection.

Customer Review Summary
Curries draw the most praise, with reviewers calling the curry great and the Kung Po chicken superb, and one enjoying a chicken curry fried rice. Salt and chilli ribs and spring rolls, including chicken cheese spring rolls, come close behind, though one diner found the salted chilli ribs and chicken as hot as lava. Chow mein splits opinion. One reviewer calls the special chow mein the best they have had, while another binned it after two bites and a third received little more than noodles and onions with no crackers. Others describe overcooked ribs, dry chicken skewers, stringy salted chilli chicken with a doughy coating, and a chicken curry containing mushrooms despite an allergy. Delivery draws complaints too, from late arrivals to an order that never turned up. One reviewer finds the staff friendly, while another says the shop needs cleaning. One diner reports wings that looked raw with blood on them, and a refund that came back short of the full amount.

“Over from Scotland for a couple of nights and ordered from here for 1st time. Delivery was late, Chicken Curry was a no go,( I've had well over 100 Chicken Curries from various Chinese takeaway/Restaurants and this is the 1st one to contain mushrooms for which I am allergic. Luckily I noticed them b4 tucking in). The wife's Chicken Foo Yung was overly salty but she did enjoy the rice. We ended up sharing this as the curry went straight in the bin...”

“Ordered x3 chicken chow mein, 2 box meals, a half and half, a ck curry & ribs. Almost £70!! They sent 3 ‘chow mein’ which is basically flipping noodles and onions!!! No crackers, nothing. This is a local Chinese that is used 4 times a week at the least by my family! Absolute disgrace and will never get again. Ribs are pathetic!!!”
