About Neighbourhood Cafe
Neighbourhood Cafe is a cafe at 67 Donegall St in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter, pairing specialty coffee with a brunch menu. The Eggs Benny comes in two versions, one with ham hock and one with char siu glazed pork belly and sesame hollandaise, and hash browns sit alongside as a side order. Turkish Eggs arrive with garlic yogurt, chili butter and dill for anyone who wants something other than the Benedict. Dogs are welcome. Ordering happens at the counter, where guests order and pay before being shown to a table, and there is no traditional table service. The cafe takes no reservations, so a queue can form outside at busy times such as weekend mornings. The menu can be read while waiting outside.

Customer Review Summary
Hash browns are the item reviewers raise most, called lived up to the hype and among the best some diners have had anywhere, usually ordered as a side. Close behind is the eggs Benedict, praised in one account for generous shredded ham hock and rich hollandaise, and in another for char siu glazed pork belly with sesame hollandaise. Breakfast tacos, Turkish eggs, the Neighbourhood bagel and whipped avocado toast with crushed pistachios also draw praise, along with excellent coffee, including an oat latte and a decaf. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly. The main complaint is the queue on busy mornings, with no reservations and ordering at the counter before being seated. One reviewer found the food bland and more about presentation than flavour, and had to ask at the bar for cutlery. Another called the hash browns pricey, and one warns the tacos run hot on spice. One diner who was double charged says staff owned the mix up, refunded it immediately, and added free hash browns and a coffee.

“The best brunch spot in Belfast. A friend recommended this place and I didn’t realise it had gone viral, so was met with a long line outside. I wasn’t in a rush so stayed and I’m so glad I did. The line took about 30 mins (from 10:30am on a Saturday for reference). All the staff were super friendly and the food came out so quickly. There was a mix up with my order (which I hadn’t even noticed). They were very honest and came out to tell me about a double charge. They refunded it immediately and then gave me the hash browns free of charge for the mix up. They also gave me a free coffee. The most above and beyond service I’ve received outside of America. The food was amazing. The breakfast tacos were so good. Definitely on the hot side so if spice isn’t your thing I’d avoid these or get the sauce on the side. The hash browns lived up to the hype and the coffee was the best decaf I found in the city by far. Absolutely worth the hype.”

“The Neighbourhood Cafe is certainly a popular spot. We had to queue for around 15-20 minutes outside before we were seated. Initially, the girl asked us to sit on the stools along one of the bar areas. We refused but were quickly given a table! This is something my wife and I didn’t find acceptable. Subsequently, for our breakfast, we each ordered Turkish Eggs plus grilled halloumi and vegetarian hash brown (pricy, each hash brown cost £6 but impressive). We also ordered Americano coffee - Excellent quality coffee brew. We both very much enjoyed our breakfast and quickly forgot about the our seating issue. The service, the food the coffee excellent overall. Highly recommended but it ain’t cheap!”

“What a fantastic experience at The Neighbourhood Café! We had the Neighbourhood Bagel and the Caesar Focaccia, and both were absolutely packed with flavour. Everything was cooked and served to perfection—our plates were completely empty by the end! The atmosphere was brilliant, with a real vibrant, lively vibe that made the whole place feel so welcoming. We did have to queue for a couple of minutes, but the turnover was incredibly fast, so there was really nothing to complain about. A huge shoutout to Fiachra and Senan for their menu recommendations—they absolutely nailed it! They gave us such a warm, friendly welcome, made us feel right at home, and served us top-tier coffees that were every bit as impressive as the food. Outstanding food, excellent coffee, and genuinely lovely staff. We’ll definitely be back again very soon. Highly recommend!”

“Excellent brunch, if you’re willing to queue for it First, the main downside. You can’t reserve a table, so you’re at the mercy of the queue. We waited around 30 minutes to get in, which isn’t ideal when you’re hungry, but thankfully the food made up for it. I went for the eggs Benedict and it was excellent. The poached eggs were nicely cooked, there was plenty of rich hollandaise, and the real standout was the ham hock. Rather than just throwing a couple of slices of ham underneath the eggs, you get a really generous amount of shredded ham hock with loads of flavour. It worked brilliantly with the eggs and sauce. Everything felt properly substantial as well. This wasn’t one of those brunches that looks pretty but leaves you wanting another meal an hour later. The café itself has that busy Belfast brunch spot atmosphere. It was absolutely packed when we went, which explains the queue, but once we were seated the food was worth the wait. Overall, a very good brunch. The no-bookings policy and 30-minute queue are a bit of a pain, but I’d happily come back for the eggs Benedict alone.”

“During our stay in Belfast, our hotel receptionist recommended Neighborhood Café, and after looking at the menu online, I knew I wanted to try it. I'm so glad we did. The café is bright, airy, and filled with natural light. We arrived after the lunch rush, so finding a table was easy. The only thing I found a little unusual was being asked to order at the counter before sitting. It wasn't a problem, but I was a bit surprised as there seemed to be plenty of staff on the floor, so I wasn't quite sure why table service wasn't offered. My husband ordered the oatmeal and the whipped avocado toast, which looked absolutely stunning. The vibrant green avocado piped onto perfectly toasted sourdough and finished with crushed pistachios was almost too pretty to eat. I chose the chia pudding with fresh fruit and a scoop of matcha chocolate.I really enjoyed the combination of flavours. The standout for me, though, was the beans on toast. It's not something you often see on a café menu, and it was packed with flavour. I honestly could have ordered another serving! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating with my dairy intolerance, and my oat latte was excellent. I'd definitely recommend Neighborhood Café. Fresh, creative food, excellent coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere made it a lovely place to visit. Edit: I went the next day around 10.30am and there was a line up outside with no seating available. So if you are visiting the cafe note the busy times.”
