Customer Review Summary
Coffee is what reviewers raise most at Hatch, with several calling it consistently excellent, one saying it beats the big chains for a full cappuccino, and others praising a flat white. Close behind are the hearty plates: the signature burger with buffalo chicken loaded fries, a brisket wrap, a buffalo chicken wrap and a breakfast wrap so packed it was hard to finish. Reviewers note the choice of meat in the sausages and wraps, and one describes a sourdough full breakfast served soon after the kitchen opens. Mint chocolate cake gets a mention too. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere, music and outdoor seating draw praise. The complaints are sharper. One diner found the large fry-up poor value, describing two tiny poached eggs, small toast and black pudding reduced to crumbs, with mushrooms costing extra and a staff member unmoved by the feedback. Another waited around 40 minutes for a brunch order that never arrived, hearing "coming up in a few minutes" while other staff held their phones.

“This is without doubt the friendliest coffee shop in Belfast. Staff are amazing. I'm fussy about my coffee and the coffee is consistently excellent, made with love and expertise. Usually just get a coffee to bring to work but in the times I have eaten her, food was delicious too.”

“Really Poor Value for Money..! Believe it or not, this so called ‘Large fry-up’ is meant to be their flagship menu item - and is the most expensive..! £11.95 I paid for this - it barely touched the sides… 2 tiny poached eggs, small toast, tiny / mediocre bacon & sausages… Black pudding was basically a few crumbs… Around £6 for what I got would’ve been fair… Oh, and if you want mushrooms etc, that’s an extra £2..! Got to go a find something else to eat now, and this open sandwich thing wouldn’t even fill up a small child..! Staff member completely non-plussed when I gave my comments at the end… Good coffee to be fair, though at £4.20, so it should be… Feel completely ripped off and would never return…”
