About Kathmandu Masala
Kathmandu Masala is a Nepalese restaurant in Beckenham, at 263 Croydon Rd, where the dining room has wooden seating and white tablecloths. The kitchen cooks both Indian and Nepali dishes, so the menu works as a curry house list. Onion bhajis come as a starter, and curries such as the lamb korma arrive with rice and naan. Lamb shank is among the mains for those who want something other than a curry. A cocktail list sits alongside the food, which suits a drink before or with the meal. The restaurant gets very busy at weekends.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the curries, with lamb korma, onion bhajis and poppadoms named alongside rice and naan, and several describe the food as delicious, flavourful and well priced. Close behind is the service, called friendly, welcoming and attentive, and one long-standing weekly regular credits the consistency and the care shown to regulars. A few mention the dining room as charming, and a couple say it gets very busy at weekends. The one detailed critical account is a mixed visit: the mixed starter, samosas and lamb shank were praised as tender and juicy, but the lamb biriyani was described as tough with rice that seemed not fresh, the korma chicken as rubbery and bland, and the keema naan as barely filled. That reviewer also found the lighting white and bright enough to feel sterile. Another party celebrating with friends found no champagne in stock despite it being listed on the drinks menu, and settled for prosecco before ending on a great night.

“I with my wirk colleagues have been to this restaurant a couple of times and we have never had any complaints about it. Food is excellent and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. It can get very busy at week-ends still we were all able to chat with each other and have a very good time. Its a must visit place.”

“🍴 - This Evening I Decided to Venture Out for Dinner..... To have the BEST Indian Cuisine in the Local Area of Bethlem Royal Hospital. I Settled on Kathmandu Masala in Beckenham Because It Was the Highest Rated in the Beckenham, West Wickham and Elmers End Area Despite Many Indian Establishments. Although a Short Two Bus Ride Away It Was The Most Delicious 😋 Indian I've Had. Definitely in the Top 5. I had Poppadom to Start Along with Onion Bhaji, Then Lamb Korma, Special Rice and Peshwari Naan to Feast On... I almost finished it but not quite. I decided though to have Mint Ice Cream To Finish Off The Meal, With Added Freshness and Sweetness. Along with Sprite I had a huge meal. It's been ages since I've had an Indian as I've been a Thai guy for some time..... I was not disappointed!! ..... I'll be back!!! -🍴”

“Lovely food as usual, service attentive and frequent, and we didn't get forgotten as sometimes happens in other restaurants. It was a celebration with friends, and we were disappointed there was no champagne, even though advertised on drinks menu, there was none in stock, we settled for prosecco. I strongly recommend you have in stock what you advertise on your menus, to avoid client disappointment in future, otherwise a great night and we will be back soon. Thanks so much to waiting staff and chefs for nice evening.”
