Customer Review Summary
Salt and pepper chicken is the dish reviewers raise most, praised for loads of chicken and the right amount of crisp, with the house special fried rice named alongside it by one fan. Close behind are the salt and chilli chips, spare ribs in bbq sauce, chow mein and yung chow fried rice, with several describing large, piping hot portions that are not greasy. One reviewer mentions free poppadoms, and another praises the counter staff as kind and friendly. Several call it the best Chinese in Barry. The curry sauce draws the most mixed comments: one finds it homemade and lovely but a touch sweet, another calls it too thin and almost watery. A one-star review describes an expensive delivery order to Rhoose arriving stone cold and tasting awful, with everything binned, and a two-star review reports an awful tang in every dish, an odd bbq sauce and a house special fried rice unlike any they had seen. One reviewer was sent both battered and plain chicken after the kitchen changed its recipe.

“Placed an order for delivery, food arrived quicker than they said which was amazing. We also tried something new and asked if the chicken was battered or plain. Initially we were told plain but the kitchen later told them they’ve changed the chicken to batter so they sent both instead which was so lovely. We have been regular customers since moving here 3 years ago, we’ve even just recently moved a little further from you and still continue to come to you. You definitely are the best Chinese in barry! Thank you so much :)”

“A Proper Hidden Gem What an absolute find. How I’ve missed this place for so long is a mystery, especially since they bypass the usual food apps. Mind you, saving on that commission means they put every penny straight back into the quality instead. The service is spot on—super friendly, polite, and the delivery driver was brilliant too. Proper manners cost nothing, but they make a massive difference. As for the food, it is top-tier stuff. The meat is proper succulent and plenty of it, freshly cooked with an authentic flavour. The curry sauce is clearly homemade and lovely, if just a touch on the sweet side for my liking. A brilliant local setup doing things the right way. Highly recommend a try.”

“Had my usual , spare ribs, yung chow fried rice and curry sauce, The ribs were fantastic, well cooked and very tasty, the yung chow fried rice was equally as good, (they used short grain rice and i prefer long grain rice) the only let down was the curry sauce which was too thin and almost watery - overall the best takeaway i've had in Barry and would have given 5 stars if the curry sauce was thicker”
