62 The Bank & Bar 62 is a British bistro and bar at 62 Boutport St in Barnstaple, set under a Tudor frieze ceiling with decorative plasterwork of animals, biblical scenes and ornaments. The kitchen grills steaks and burgers, and the menu also lists mussels and a fish of the day. A carvery is served too, self-serve at the side of the table with the meat carved for you. “Not impressed, everything looked nice but the meat wad really chewy. Very expensive. The service was rushed. The drinks were very expensive. For 4 people to eat and drink £280. It's a shame because it has been better before.”

“Went here for Sunday dinner decided to try the carvery was shown to our table then had to wait 15 minutes for someone to bring menu's and ask if anyone needed drinks in which we ordered drinks they brought the wrong ones out but sorted that. Waited a while then was asked if what we'd like to order in which we said the carvery in which the guy serving us said ok and took the menus and walked off. We then had to ask where it was and do we need plates as we wasn't told anything. Out of the 3 meats advertised on the menu there was only two which were turkey and pork. The person carving the meat by the way they were cutting it looked like they've never done it before they wasted about a 5th of it recutting the meat and it falling apart. The vegetables were ok the roast potatoes looked like they'd been cooked in a fryer the amount of oil in the tray proved that stuffing was over cooked and hard had to leave that. We asked numerous times for water for our dog in which we grew impatient of waiting as the place was ridiculously warm as if the heating was on I had to take a fan out for myself and my dog as he still hadn't had any water after 30minutes of asking. To add to that as we were eating there were loads of flies trying to land on the food and just genuinely annoy us. While we waiting for our drinks a elder person opposite us dropped and smashed something on the floor it took them ten minutes to come over and help in which the elder person had picked most of it up. All in all I'm very disappointed in the service, the food, lack of pest deterants (flies), didn't have sufficient air flow to keep the temperature at a decent level, stated a dog friendly place the staff gave my dog funny looks he was under the table and couldn't be bothered to get him a bowl of water, the only redeeming factor is that the ceiling decorations was nice. I've reviewed a lot of restaurants and this is one of the worse overall. Was reached out to talk about the issues but every time I rang to ask for the general manager they were busy.”

“The worst pint of Guinness I’ve ever had! Honestly had better from a can, and cost £7.50 on top of it being awful”

“Das Restaurant besticht durch das Ambiente, am Essen war überhaupt nichts auszusetzen. Ich hatte die Muscheln und den Fisch des Tages, beides sehr gut. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, wirkte aber bisweilen etwas unbeholfen - etwas Erfahrung hat gefehlt. Aber trotzdem ein toller Aufenthalt!”

“Came for the carvery. I’ve never really experienced a carvery before and honestly I wasn’t expecting much but it was nice! The beef was really soft, the sausages and stuffing were tasty and the potatoes had a nice flavour and were cooked well! The only downside really was the Yorkshire pudding which had become quite dry and crispy sat under the lights even when drowned in gravy, and the swede was crying out for some butter and salt but other than that the food was very good! Another thing to mention is the Guinness was pricey at £7.50 and was quite flat and didn’t have much of a head.”
