Customer Review Summary

Diners consistently highlight the cream tea, with reviewers calling the fruit scones massive and praising the generous clotted cream and jams as a proper Devon tea. Loose leaf tea served in China crockery, homemade cakes like coffee and walnut, and the loaded hunters chicken chips also draw praise, along with the ham, egg and chips. The staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is called relaxed and cosy, with window seating and a quirky vintage tearoom feel adding to the charm. The location earns compliments for its views, though one reviewer notes roadworks out front disrupted the peace. Several mention the cafe is dog friendly with outdoor seating, and one notes outside seating is available for wheelchair and mobility scooter users. A few suggest booking a table at lunchtime, warning it can get busy and noisy when full.

All the time I’ve lived around here and this week is the first (& 2nd) time I’ve been in here. Fantastic place, lovely views, food is fantastic, I’d say one of the best if not the best breakfast I’ve had in the area. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. I would and already have recommended to others and will definitely be visiting again . Might try one of there amazing looking cakes next time . .

Beautiful sunny day so decided to stop and just take it all in with a good coffe. Lovely location. Will be returning for more for sure. Shame about the roadworks right in front disrupting what could have been complete peace

If you find yourself in Barnstaple, Tea on the Taw is an absolute gem worth visiting. It’s got a wonderfully eclectic, old-fashioned charm, think cosy, slightly quirky, with a real “Kath Kidston meets vintage tearoom” vibe that makes you …
