“Delicious, homemade food. Fast, attentive service and good value for money. We had the pie of the day (1 with mash, 1 with chips). The veg was good and the gravy was our of this world. Jam roly poly with custard (plus an extra jug) was top notch.”

“So we are driving up the M1 thinking about where can grab a light lunch. As we approached junction 38, I had a flash back from I am sure nearly 40 years ago, a pub set back off the road towards Barnsley… I wondered if it was still there. Lovely looking building, still quite remote from any sort of housing. Big car park with electric charging points. Obviously been remodelled over the years but structurally seemed to be the place I remembered 40 years ago. So light lunch was our plan…. Not sure a 12oz Barnsley chop with chips and salad is a light lunch. The lamb was amazing, the flavour beat anything bought from our local butchers in the south. Similar the steak and ale pie - big chunks of tasty beef in pastry that wasn’t burnt and tough - which is unusual nowadays. Absolute credit to the kitchen for the food. Just s great experience- the staff were well trained to ensure we were happy with our food which is rare these days. Big garden with kids play equipment, looked like an outside bar was available on busy days along with outdoor pizza station which is used if you order pizza in the restaurant. Sadly we don’t go north on the M1 very often so no idea when or if we will be back- buts it is a certain revisit.”

“Didn't meet expectations this time, I've been watching on TikTok for a while now and thought its a place I need to try. Service was really good and it was full so the atmosphere was good but the fillet steak just wasn't up to scratch, I asked for it cooked medium rare but it was definately blue, I was expecting better from a restaurant that advertises itself as a meat & steak restaurant, I thought temperature probes would be used to check for the correct cooked temperature for medium rare.”
