  “This was my first time trying Nigerian food, and I had a great experience at Soya Hut in Barking. I absolutely loved the jollof rice—it was amazing and full of flavour. The zobo drink was also so good and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, I really enjoyed the food. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the naan. As someone with an Asian background, I'm used to naan being served differently, so the way it was cut into strips wasn't to my taste. That's just a personal preference, though. I was also hoping to try fufu, but unfortunately it wasn't available on the menu. Hopefully it can be added in the future, as I'd love to try it. Apart from that, everything was wonderful. The staff were lovely, friendly, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Overall, it was an amazing first introduction to Nigerian cuisine, and I would happily visit again.”

  “We placed an order with Suya Hut, and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The food arrived extremely late, and when it finally got here, we realized we had been overcharged on my card for an incredibly incomplete order.To make matters worse, the small amount of food that did actually arrive was poor quality—the plantain was completely soggy and unappetising. Because the order was so short on items, we have not even been able to eat. This was dinner for three adults and a child, and they essentially took our money, made us wait ages, and left an entire family hungry with ruined food. Trying to get in touch with their customer service to resolve this has been completely impossible. Avoid this place at all costs—total lack of care, quality, speed, and basic order accuracy.”

  “My fellow Kizumba sisters and I went to Suya Hut for dinner and I was so excited because there's no Nigerian restaurants in Ashford, Kent (that I know of at least). The service was deplorable😣. Even though we called and made reservations ahead of time for 15 people, we waited over an hour. Not one person came to our table to apologise, to offer some bread or water...nothing. There was even a family of 4 that came and left with a whole platter of food on their table. That's poor customer service. We had to ask the servers several times how long before our food came. When the food did arrive, the orders had missing items and some people had to wait while the majority of the table was eating. I ordered the platter that comes with lamb, chicken wings, beef and chicken suya with jollof rice which was AMAZING😋. The platter is served on a sizzling wooden plate...unfortunately even though it had a nice spicy kick, most of my meats were burnt and I couldn't eat it. The salad they served was like a dry coleslaw... Red cabbage, a bit of onions and salad with no dressing. To drink I had the ginger juice...homemade and very good and refreshing because it was semi frozen. Would I go back, to give them a 2nd try? Sure, but the food being burnt and poor customer service makes it a big deterrent.”

  “Absolutely blown away by the quality of the suya here! From the very first bite, the meat has that perfect smoky char and a deep, peppery yaji warmth that lingers in the best way possible. The beef was incredibly tender and generously seasoned. Paired with the fresh red onions and a cold Maltina, it felt like being right back in Lagos. The lively atmosphere, great music, and friendly staff made the evening even more special. A must-visit if you're craving authentic Nigerian flavours!”

  “I recently visited Suya Hut in Barking but unfortunately had a mixed experience. Before arriving, I called to ask if I could walk in since there were limited booking slots online. The person who answered the phone was unprofessional — there was a lot of background noise, making it difficult to hear. While I was placed on hold, she appeared to be having unrelated conversations. When she returned to the call, she confirmed 4pm was fine but didn’t ask for my party size, which I found unusual. I had to prompt her myself to confirm that a party of four would be accommodated. The call ended rather abruptly. On arrival, we were seated quickly, which was a positive. The restaurant itself is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. However, it was extremely cold inside — most customers were wearing their jackets, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Heating should really be a basic priority for paying customers. The food was good overall. The chicken was tender and nicely cooked, but I felt the dishes lacked seasoning, particularly salt. For a supposed number-one seller, I expected a bit more flavour depth. Service during the meal was disappointing. It took around 45 minutes for someone to attend to us, despite the restaurant being small. Staff were gathered chatting while we waited. When our order was eventually taken, the server lacked enthusiasm and didn’t appear welcoming or engaged. Overall, while the restaurant has potential and the food quality was decent, the customer service and overall hospitality need significant improvement. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won’t be returning.”

  “I really liked the suya hut vibe. Had a nice time with my friends as we went there to relax. The suya platter was so good, although I wished it was very spicy. Then I was told I should have told them I want it spicy😭. Note taken for another day that I go. Ensure to make reservation before going.”

  “Was a lovely experience. The Jollof and the suya platter was on point. Polite staff and nice environment. Won’t mind visiting again. Had to reserve a space though just to ensure we didn’t have any wait time. When walking you see a bus, just walk past it and you see the restaurant itself. Highly recommend Main menu is different from the takeout menu..”

  “Randomly stopped by for some suya. Thought I might not be able to get a table without booking but they managed to fit me in. It was relatively busy and lots of people came while I was there. The suya was delicious and the servers were very polite and helpful. Also, the prices are really good. Highly recommended.”

  “Went to the Suya Hut with my friends and had a great time overall. We didn’t make a reservation, so we were told we had a two-hour limit possibly because we walked in, though I’m not entirely sure if that’s standard policy. For food, we ordered the large mixed suya platter, which included chicken, lamb, wings, and more. It came with a bowl of jollof rice and a small salad on the side. As a starter, we were also served naan 🫓 with a curry sauce, which I really enjoyed. The jollof rice was very flavorful, and the suya platter was delicious. I ordered their ginger drink, which was refreshing, along with a bottle of Fanta. Overall, I enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the nonstop Afrobeats playing in the background though it was a bit on the loud side.”
