About The Falcon at Warmington

The Falcon at Warmington is a pub on Warwick Rd in Banbury with a coeliac-certified kitchen, so guests who eat gluten-free or vegan have real choices, including a mushroom pie. The wider menu runs to fish and chips and lamb shoulder. The bar pours a selection of ales alongside spirits and wines. A large central fireplace sits in the main room, and a garden room lies next to the bar. Several smaller rooms lead off the main thoroughfare, and a private dining room takes groups gathering for family celebrations. The pub looks out across the valley.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the food, with the lamb shoulder that fell off the bone with a magnificent jus, the beefburger, the fish and chips, and a vegan and coeliac-friendly mushroom pie singled out by name. The Sunday roast gets repeated praise, and one reviewer rates the cheese chips highly. Puddings such as bread and butter pudding and caramelised banana waffles also earn mentions. Close behind is the setting: the garden with views across the valley, plenty of seating inside and out, and a private dining room used for a family celebration. Staff are described again and again as friendly and professional, and several say dietary needs were handled with ease. One reviewer also notes a good selection of ales. The only criticism is small: a coeliac diner found no non-malt vinegar for chips, despite the pub's coeliac certification. One family was brought the bill early so a child could catch a train.

“The private dining room is absolutely lovely for a family celebration. The staff were super- unflappable, professional and very friendly. Everyone enjoyed their Sunday lunch. The pub is large and well looked after. It is in a gorgeous setting with views across the valley. We moved tohe outdoor space after our booked time and there was plenty of tables to choose from and even more space for the children to run about in. Thank you to the whole team!”

“Food was fantastic! We had a table in the garden which was lovely. My wife is vegan and Coeliac. She had the mushroom pie and said it was lovely and the best pie she’s had. I had the fish and chips which was great. Portion sizes were generous and the serving staff were attentive. First time visit and we will definitely be going back. Only observation was that there was no non malt vinegar available for my wife to put on her chips. Given that you are coeliac certified it would be good to have this available.”

Good to know

“With fine food, an extensive list of spirits, wines and local beers, joined with outstanding views across the local countryside, we hope that the Falcon will rein high on your list of places to dine or enjoy a leisurely drink. Our bar sits at the heart of all things, presiding over the garden room which is flooded with light and the large roaring central fireplace that creates a snug feeling throughout the pub. There are plenty of smaller rooms off the main thoroughfare to squirrel away in for a quieter bite to eat and two outside terraces to choose from set within flowerbeds bursting with seasonal flora.”
