Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the Sunday roast, though opinions split. One recalls an incredible roast last year, then found the beef bland, the roast potatoes undercooked and the gravy and cauliflower cheese watery after a chef change. Another calls the Sunday lunch good. The beer garden and Hook Norton ales draw praise, though one found the Hooky off. Staff are described as lovely and apologetic.

“Decided to try the Sunday roast here because it looked nice online, didn’t get the chance. Took my 4 year and one year old and was told they “don't have the facilities for children” which is illegal. Having a sign claiming you accept children over 5 is utter bullsh*t. Also, very dingy inside.”

“Really disappointing, especially as we came back because we had an incredible roast here last year and had recommended it to others. Unfortunately, this time the food was bland and completely lacking in flavour. I had the vegetarian option, which was okay, but my mum had the beef and hated it so much she only managed one mouthful. The roast potatoes were also undercooked and there was barely any seasoning on anything. Our gravy was very watery and same with cauliflower cheese. Overall, it just felt like very little effort had gone into the food. The staff were lovely and apologetic, which we appreciated, but sadly that couldn’t make up for how disappointing the food was. It’s such a shame because last year’s roast was incredible. We understand the chef has changed, but unfortunately we wouldn’t come back based on this experience.”
