Customer Review Summary

Sunday lunch is the draw most reviewers return to, with the roast beef and the half chicken, a light and crunchy Yorkshire pudding, and a porchetta sharing platter singled out. Close behind are the fish pie, linguine, chicken schnitzel with sticky toffee, and a full English breakfast included in a room stay. Reviewers also praise a large selection of beers, ciders and whiskey, and repeatedly describe friendly, chatty staff, with one noting a child's name was remembered. Several mention how dog-friendly the pub is, with outdoor space, a water tap and bowls. The one criticism is that a diner's roast beef was a bit chewy, though he still finished it. One reviewer says the chef gave extra anchovy on a Caesar salad and brought fried fish skins to taste.

“Had a wonderful Sunday lunch in this delightful little country pub. Roast beef was cooked to perfection, great wine and beer and the most friendly staff. Our favourite was Gregory who gave us remarkable service, his attention to every detail was such a refreshing change. What a fabulous young man - keep up the great work!”

“We stumbled across this lovely pub after a bike ride. Is really pretty, inviting & had a great atmosphere. The friendliness of the staff is second to none…Our son’s name was remembered, their power was offered to charge our phone & the food was delicious. I would thoroughly recommend if you’re visiting the area. Was a fabulous evening, thank you ☺️”

“If I could give this place ten stars, I absolutely would! We first visited last week, and the biggest standout for me was the staff. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, chatty and cheeky in the best possible way. It was genuinely a pleasure to be there. It is also incredibly dog-friendly. There is so much outdoor space for dogs to enjoy, along with a water tap and dog bowls, which is such a thoughtful touch. We went back again yesterday for a friend’s birthday and, although there were different team members working, the experience was exactly the same. Everyone was warm, welcoming and happy to chat, and once again it was an absolute pleasure to spend time there. The food has also been delicious on both visits. The fish pie was beautifully cooked, my partner loved the linguine, and yesterday we had the beef sandwich with fries, which were honestly divine. We are so glad we stumbled across this place. It has quickly become our new go-to, and we will definitely be back.”

“What a lovely pub, even open on a Monday for food. Menu was really different and lots to choose from. Both Jules and Debbie served us and couldn't be more helpful. Food was delicious, I had the ceaser salad and my husband had the chicken schnitzel followed by a yummy sticky toffee. Chef Lee even gave me some extra anchovy on my salad and he brought us some fried fish skins to taste. We'll definitely be back.”
