About The Bamboo
The Bamboo is a Chinese takeaway at 37 Buckingham St in Aylesbury, where duck dishes lead the menu. The kitchen serves crispy duck with pancakes and chop suey duck, so a customer can choose between a rolled-pancake meal and a stir-fried one. Portions run large, which suits ordering for a table or sharing a few dishes. The rest of the menu follows the familiar Chinese takeaway range, and it includes a special chow mein for those who want a noodle dish alongside the duck. Sweet and sour chicken balls round out the choices.

Customer Review Summary
The caveat carries real weight, as several longtime customers say quality has slipped. Complaints include food that was very dry and too sweet, an inedible item, and a crispy duck order where the pancakes arrived stuck together and soggy. One reviewer describes food arriving lukewarm, then waiting on hold and for replacements that came cold. Another says a replacement order was the wrong delivery collected and returned. Two mention being spoken to rudely on the phone.

“By far the worst Chinese in Aylesbury, food was tasteless and extremely low quality”

“I had been using another takeaway, who were excellent until it changed hands recently. I tried other take-aways and have found this one to be very good, both in the food and the service. Plus, the chop suey duck is very good.”

“Very disappointed this evening, food arrived luke-warm and was no where near as nice as it has been previously. Ordered 1/4 crispy duck with extra pancakes, and the pancakes both arrived stuck together, crispy but soggy, and inedible! Took 15 minutes to get through when we called to let them know, we were put on hold. We were then told they would send replacements… which 40 minutes to arrive. Food is now cold. Not happy with the service or food received. I won’t be ordering from here again, which is a shame as previously had no complaints.”

“Ordered from here for the first time a little while ago after moving in nearby. I love a good Chinese takeaway and I had never ordered from Bamboo before so I thought I would give it a try. The prices were fair, in the range you would expect to pay for good quality Chinese food dishes. I spent around £26 for 4 dishes. I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet and sour chicken balls and they were huge and really really nice. I ordered a special chow mein and special fried rice, both Chinese takeaway favourites of mine and they were pretty good. Nothing different to any other takeaway but delicious nonetheless. Everything I ordered tasted good. I was definitely happy considering the fair prices I had paid for them. Overall, I would recommend them, the food was pretty good and I look forward to visiting again soon when the inevitable Chinese takeaway cravings come back around.”
