About Blas

Blas is a restaurant on Wind St in Ammanford, serving tapas alongside a traditional Sunday roast lunch. The tapas selection includes calamari, prawns, and chicken wings, while the Sunday menu brings roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and vegetables on the side. Gluten-free options are available, with menu tweaks made where needed, and sticky toffee pudding rounds out dessert. Coffee comes from Coaltown, with the Americano, flat white, and cappuccino among the options on a twelve-dish menu. Table service runs throughout, with a server bringing dishes to the table. The step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, high chairs are available for families with young children, and outdoor seating extends to dogs, which are welcome in that area or in the bar. Parking sits across the road, reached by a lane leading to the venue. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday, closing on Mondays, and reservations are recommended.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday lunch draws the most attention, with several diners praising the beef and lamb as tender and full of flavour, though experiences vary: one reviewer found the pork chops tough and the mash and cauliflower cheese overcooked, while another paid a premium price for an overcooked fillet steak served with prawns that weren't properly cleaned. Close behind, the tapas menu earns repeat praise, especially the calamari, chicken wings, and short ribs, though one reviewer felt portions were too small for the price charged. Desserts come up consistently as a strength, with the sticky toffee pudding singled out more than once alongside a spiced creme brulee and a vegan cheesecake. Service is mostly described as friendly and attentive, though a few report lapses, including a forgotten or dropped breakfast and a colder, less attentive visit on Christmas Eve. Two more serious accounts stand out: one coeliac reviewer says a supposedly gluten free Sunday lunch arrived contaminated, triggering a flare, and another reports vomiting after an overpriced chicken burger, which was removed from the bill.

“Had the korean chicken with waffles. Sweet & savoury mixture, perfect!”

“I would give this an over all 3 stars my reason for this 1 the food Food took around 30 40 mins and when it arrived the pork chops were like chewing lether shoes, the mash was like instant mash, the rost potatoes were like aunt Bessies nice and crispy on out side and fluffy in the inside only thing they didnt tast nice verry nice. The parsnip was verry nice The veg on the side was ok but had a feeling it was microwaved as some was over cooked like the kale, and green beans and the harder veg done right like carrots. Coffee was excellent in taste and had a nice little leaf design on it only thing I will say is needed to be hotter. I like the colliflower cheese taste texture needed work as the colliflower was way over cooked and would have been perfect for people with no teeth”

“Pre ordered our food and waited almost an hour for it. One of the breakfasts was “dropped on the floor” or forgotten. Service was terrible I know working on Christmas eve isn’t nice but it’s your choice where you work. No smiles, no acknowledgment, no thank yous, no emotion. Been a few times and it’s been an ok experience but will not be returning.”
