About Corner Tree Cafe

Corner Tree Cafe is a coffee shop on Whitehall Rd in Aberdeen's West End, with an attached shop that sells gifts and furniture paint, so a stop for coffee can include a browse for a project. The coffee is locally roasted, and a changing range of fresh home bakes sits alongside it. Food runs from breakfast and brunch into lunch, including toasted paninis served with a side salad and crisps, and maple and bacon pancakes with added eggs. Gluten-free options cover the paninis, soups and pancakes. Afternoon tea arrives on three tiers of handmade sweet and savoury items, with hot raspberry chocolate scones among them and vegan options available. A small private room can be used for it, which suits groups. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Croissants draw the most mentions, from the salmon croissant to a toasted croissant with eggs and bacon, which one reviewer calls the star of the menu. Afternoon tea comes close behind, with diners praising the sandwiches, the sweet treats and the hot raspberry chocolate scones, along with vegan options and a private room. Paninis with side salad, maple and bacon pancakes with added eggs, iced hazelnut lattes and the cakes also earn praise, and one gluten-free diner valued the pancakes, paninis and soups. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming. The criticism is sharper in one visit: an unwelcoming look from a staff member, a table beside the staircase, no one coming to take the order so the diners went to the counter, and later arrivals served first. That reviewer also found darkened salad leaves under the salmon croissant and a panini that arrived only warm. Another reviewer found the coffee a bit bitter. One reviewer notes the teapot is big enough for three cups.

“Superb menu, friendly staff and a really nice interior. Bonus points as it's a decent size teapot so you can get 3 cups of tea out of it. Had the toasted panini with side salad which was a good size and served with a nice side salad and crisps. Look forward to visiting again when work takes me up that way.”

“This is such a hidden gem in Aberdeen - my partner and I have been here twice in quick succession as we enjoyed it so much highly recommend the salmon croissants and iced hazelnut lattes. It is quite a high price point but well worth it for the quality of food, coffee and atmosphere.”

“Was my first time coming here on Sunday after winning the 10th Birthday competition. We had the afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious we loved every bite. The sandwiches were so good and we loved the sweet treats but I think one of our favourites was the hot raspberry chocolate scones. All the staff were really lovely and very attentive. Would highly recommend this place for others and definitely the afternoon tea, can’t wait to come back for another ☺️”

“Popped in for some lunch with a colleague for some bruch. Everything was lovely - I had panini & he had a breakfast croissant. There was also the cutest little king charles spaniel sitting near the door - so that was an absolute win for me 🥰”

“Corner Tree Cafe is such a lovely little gem in Aberdeen! The café is cosy and cute, and the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming 🌳☕️💗 As someone who eats gluten-free, I was so impressed by the range of options available, including naturally gluten-free pancakes, gluten-free paninis, and soups. 🙌 The highlight was definitely the maple and bacon pancakes with added eggs 🍁🥓🍳 — absolutely delicious and highly recommended! I also loved that they offer sugar-free syrups, which is a great touch. ✨ My only criticism is that the coffee was a bit bitter for my taste, and I wish they offered regular lactose-free milk. ☕️ Overall, a fantastic café with amazing gluten-free options and wonderful service. I’ll definitely be back!”
