About Blackwater Coffee Roasters

Blackwater Coffee Roasters is a coffee shop in Houston, TX, operating in the Allen Center area. As a roaster-forward cafe, it focuses on in-house roasting and a focused coffee program that anchors the daily menu. The Flat White is the signature drink on the coffee program, and the Pumpkin Spice Latte appears among the listed offerings, giving the menu a mix of classic espresso preparation and seasonal options. Pastries and Cookies round out the food side, providing a simple pairing option alongside the coffee selection. The shop's roaster-led approach shapes the experience, with the coffee program taking priority over an extended food menu. Seating and service support a practical stop for a quick coffee break or a brief work session during the day.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers consistently single out the baristas as the heart of the experience, with one server in particular earning repeated praise for remembering orders, greeting customers with a smile, and delivering fast, friendly service that turns a coffee run into a daily ritual. The coffee itself draws high marks, with the honey milk flat white and lattes mentioned as standouts for their smoothness and freshness, and the pastries also earn a nod. A few practical notes recur: the shop sits in the basement of the building, which can take first-timers a moment to locate, and one reviewer wishes for gluten-free bakery options. On the negative side, one customer describes a frustrating visit in which a barista was texting while a long line waited, then received a wrong latte that was corrected by simply adding syrup to the original drink in the same cup rather than remaking it properly.

Im not sure why isnt this place listed as Amellios coffee since thats what its called. Took me a few rounds to figure out this is the place. So its in the basement of the building to all those who might not have been here before. The coffee was amazing!!! I wish they had any GF bakery or bars but they do have alternative milk options and some good flavors. I tried the honey milk flat white and was impressed with the smoothness of the shot.

Was looking for a smoothie and they were kind to make me a coffee with my protein powder. I really am greatful. I recommend this place, great service.

It was my first time here. I came here to relax after studying a little bit. Agreeable service and good presentation of the cappacino. The only down side would be paying 4.50 for a small cup of coffee.I am still in the struggling phase.I suppose owning a business in downtown doesn't come cheap either.Keep up the good work!

Cute coffee pitstop in the tunnels if you don’t want to go to Starbucks! Great place to get coffee.

Amilles quickly became my go-to-spot… and it just for the coffee (which taste like heavens rain) but because it feels like a little pocket of warmth in my day. My barista, Robert, has turned into a new friend. The others are sweet as sugar …
