About The Queens Cantonese Restaurant
The Queens Cantonese Restaurant is a family-run Chinese restaurant at 41 Queen St in Wolverhampton, with a sit-down dining room and an upstairs seating area. The cooking is Cantonese, spread across a la carte choices, set menus and dim sum, and a traditional menu is available on request for guests who want to explore further. Among the dishes are a three roast meat plate and crispy duck served with pancakes, with banana fritters as the dessert. A shared menu for two covers those dining as a pair. For an evening out around a show, a three-course pre-theatre menu is available. Fresh warm prawn crackers come to the table as guests are seated.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise fresh, quickly served Cantonese cooking, describing food that is non greasy, hot and cooked to order. The three roast meat, the shared menu for two, the crispy duck and a banana fritter dessert are the dishes named, and one regular mentions a traditional menu that can be requested by the more adventurous. Close behind is the friendly, family run feel. Reviewers describe welcoming staff, warm greetings for regulars, and a newborn baby seated upstairs where it was quiet. Several like it for before or after the theatre, and one points to a three course pre theatre menu, though it gets busy on Fridays and Saturdays. Criticism is limited but specific. One takeaway of sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice was called bland, with tasteless chicken and rice that had no flavour. One solo diner wanted faster service, and another found the bill mostly came from drinks. One otherwise happy table asked for a couple more pancakes to finish their crispy duck and was charged extra.

“Came here for a pre outing meal, really nice food and well priced. They do a pre thread menu which is 3 courses for under £20 each which is great value. We ordered off the main menu and the food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. Well recommend 👌”

“We attended this restaurant yesterday after searching for a good Cantonese restaurant. We were going to go to birmingham but chose here as it’s closer to home. The food was absolutely delightful and some of the best Cantonese/ Chinese food I have had. Everything was fresh and non greasy. We were made to feel welcome even with our newborn baby and got to sit upstairs where it was nice and quiet. We will definitely attend here again”

“I’ve lived in Wolverhampton 40 years and never thought of trying this place. I’m so glad I did, absolutely brilliant experience. As well as delicious food the friendliest staff I’ve come across in a long time. A true gentleman and lady. We came as a group of 5 and we’re all very very happy. Thank you “the queens”. We will be seeing you again”

“Visited here post theatre from recommendation. I didn’t disappoint, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. Only little niggle was we didn’t have enough pancakes to finish our crispy duck so asked for a couple more and was charged £4 🫤 Would definitely visit again.”

“Fantastic Cantonese in Wolverhampton. Every time that I have visited the food and service is excellent. Gets busy but still the food arrives at the table fantastically cooked and without too much of a delay. Great choice on the menu lots of different dishes to try. Good location for pre/after theatre shows.”
