Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently single out the fish and chips, describing the fish as fresh tasting in crisp batter and cooked to order. The scallops earn high praise as well, with one reviewer calling them the best in the universe. Sides like marrowfat peas, mushy peas, and a fruity curry sauce also get mentions, alongside reasonable pricing and friendly service from the owner. However, a recurring complaint centers on operating hours, with multiple reviewers noting the shop closes earlier than advertised online, leading to disappointed arrivals. A lone negative review cites undercooked chips, sloppy uncooked cod in the middle, and small portions. Several reviewers suggest not leaving it too late to visit, with one noting the lovely atmosphere while waiting for fish cooked to order.

“Just a basic chippy which sells the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. I live 30 miles away from this chippy. However I incorporate a nearby hike sometimes just so I can get fish and chips from here.”

“It's a nice local F&C. Nice quality fish in one size, cod or haddock, chips were nicely golden and fresh. Good size marrowfat peas in their juice, also the curry sauce, fruity type. …”

“Wow, these were the best fish & chips we've had in forever. Very reasonably priced too. The atmosphere in the shop while I was waiting, your fish is cooked to order was lovely. Being a Londoner it was lovely to see the customers interaction with each other and also with me. If I come back to the area I will definitely be back!”

“Great place for Fish and Chips. Very traditional, and is very reasonably priced compared to competition in the area. Only thing to consider is that its only normally open until about 8:30pm so don’t leave it too late. Jim the owner is very friendly.”
