About Welcome Takeaway
A menu of 242 dishes gives Welcome Takeaway, a Chinese takeaway on Pensby Road in Wirral, plenty of room to cover the range. Sweet and sour chicken is a recurring order, frequently paired with a portion of chips, and chips turn up alongside the main dishes on plenty of orders. Spring rolls, including a vegetable version, come up often too, and prawn crackers sit on the list as a starter. Orders are placed as walk-ins at the counter rather than booked ahead. The shop trades in the evenings only, Tuesday through Sunday, with Mondays closed.

Customer Review Summary
Regulars single out the cashew and chicken dish, with pork fried dumplings close behind, and spring rolls, crab meat soup and a noodle box also earn praise as yummy and delicious. Several describe a family favourite where the food is lovely every time and delivery arrives in good time, and one says collecting in person is extremely quick. Others report a sharp drop in quality. Sweet and sour chicken is called luke warm and stringy, or sits in a sauce that tasted like bubble bath, while veg spring rolls, chips, sumai and a congealed chicken curry are described as stale or tasteless, and ribs as dry. One reviewer reports finding raw chicken in a main dish and says the restaurant declined a full refund. Others cite slow delivery, closing earlier than advertised on several delivery attempts, and no prawn crackers thrown in with a big order. One delivery arrived without the egg fried rice, and the reviewer was offered a refund on the rice only.

“Just got a takeaway and discovered raw chicken in the main dish (photo attached). We called the restaurant and they refused to refund the whole order because we had already eaten the starter. We asked to speak to a manager and they said they were busy. Absolutely disgusting service. Do not eat here unless you want to be over a toilet for the next few days.”

“Always fabulous food here and delivered in good time”

“Disappointed that i spent almost £50 and they can't even throw in a bag of prawn crackers. The bag of chips was the smallest portion ever. And the crispy shredded chicken was big fat strips of chicken that weren't very nice. Didn't really enjoy any of it, best part about it was the seaweed.”

“Food arrived after an hour! Once arrived opened it up to find the egg fried rice was missing! We phoned up, would take 20 mins to be delivered! By that time the food would be cold! Microwave it! Errr no how vile that would be. They said we will refund on the rice! So we made our own microwave rice😕 not the same and bland as its not fried! Anyways sweet and sour chicken with chips is what we ended up with! The chicken was luke warm and stringy! Cheap chicken! The chips luke warm and hardly no sauce in the seet&sour to boot! We always used these guys as the food and service has been exellent, but on last 2 occasions its dipped and when your spending £50+! It puts you off. Well thats me done with this place. Time to find somewhere new....”

“Welcome takeaway is my families favourite takeaway, the people there make us feel welcome just as the name suggests. The food is lovely every-time without a fail, especially the pork fried dumplings! …”
