  “Everyone has heard about Wheelers, either from online recommendations or just word of mouth telling you how exceptionally impressive the food is. Well that’s because it is! To start they gave us two types of homemade bread paired with this rich and savoury pesto which had a strong umami character balanced by fresh basil. We then ordered the Yuzu granita oysters, which had a sweet and citrus flavour. The Bloody Mary granita oysters which were bursting with flavours and we also ordered some picky bits too from their wide range of fresh seafood by the bar. Next came our main courses, we ordered three different mains to share. We had the well loved, well known, crab-cake which is filled with more crab than anything else, the juicy succulent scallops and the lovely monkfish too. Since they aren’t licensed to sell booze, it’s a BYOB restaurant so I also recommend trying the large variety of booze available in the store right opposite Wheelers too! Like all the other reviews, it is true you need to book way in advance but if you just pick the right days (week days) it’s easier to get a reservation in. Definitely worth the wait! If you haven’t already booked… what are you waiting for?”

  “Everything about Wheelers is amazing. I've had take away, dine-in lunch and their tasting menu and all of it is amazing. My photos are from the tasting menu, and the Jerk Monk Cheek is the stand out item, if you're visiting Whitstable this is a must visit place.”

  “After a three hour walk from Faversham, I arrived at Wheelers r-a-v-e-n-o-u-s. I feasted on lots of perfect little small plate fish dishes, lovingly made in the kitchen, while sitting at the bar working out which extras I was going to get (chilli crayfish). The granita oysters were cold, fresh and exceptional. Such a characterful place, rightly full of pride about such great food, and fun and attentive staff who were shocked by how much I could put away(!) Worth the whole trip from London to have seafood this delicious.”

  “Been coming here for years. Still love it. Never disappoints. Getting pricier now but still relatively good value in Whitstable. They get super busy so can be hard to get service though. Be patient, it's worth it 😂”

  “Wheeler's Oyster bar is a charming little gem un Whitstsble and must visit if you love fresh seafood. The oysters are outstanding- incredibly fresh, everything tastes seasonal and well cooked. Dishes are creative. Service is friendly and relaxed, which suits the informal, intimate space. It is worth knowing that the place is very small so you sit close to other tables. Overall, fantastic spot for a leisurely seafood lunch or early dinner, especially you are in Whitstable for the day and want something that feels properly local and special.”

  “So nice we came back twice 🦪 an absolute MUST if you visit Whitstable. Even just a takeaway can be enjoyed along the seafront or oysters at the counter — everything is top tier and fresh! Oysters were to die for, as well as all their arancini balls. Our favourites were the seafood arancini balls and the salmon fishcake. the mac & cheese croquette was also incredibly filling and so unique! Do try their anchovy & olives for an affordable little treat. Would definitely come back again and bring friends.”

  “Absolutely loved Wheeler’s Oyster Bar. We first grabbed takeaway because the queue was huge, which was a pretty good sign in itself, and the seafood arancini, prawn tartlet, chowder and fritto misto were all excellent — good enough that we came back the next day. On the second visit we sat at the counter for oysters, which was my first time trying them, and the staff were helpful throughout. A lovely place with the kind of quality that makes it worth planning ahead — definitely book if you want a table, as walk-ins seem very limited.”

  “It seems like the busiest restaurant in the area. The staff weren’t particularly friendly, but the oysters were fresh and tasty. The exterior is beautiful and great for photos. Reservations are a must, otherwise you’ll probably be waiting a long time.”
