Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips is the draw here, and most reviewers praise it: crispy, perfectly cooked batter, meaty white fish, and chips that are a good mix of crunchy and soft. Portions come up repeatedly as large, with one reviewer finding a large fish and medium chips enough for two. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, polite and accommodating, and several diners mention taking their order to the beach. Scampi and sausage also get a mention. The complaints are fewer but specific. One reviewer found the chips tough, overdone or seemingly reused, with the fish pricey for what it was. Another says the cod tasted frozen, the batter was soggy, and the tissues and forks were missing from a takeaway order, forcing a trip back. One diner also noted the shop opened an hour later than listed. Reviewers who waited for takeaway were offered a small cone of free chips, a gesture two of them singled out.

“Hi Ossies, Okan is probably a man I would go into a gladiator arena for to make sure that all of Whitstable could have fish and chips and served by him. Next time I go in if he isn’t manager or even owner I’ll buy a cod and shove it into a bin. Kind regards, Lawrence.”

“While the location is good, the chips looked and tasted like they were from last week. Many of them were tough to eat and barnacle with ample amounts of ketchup. The service was friendly although despite being quiet, was a little pushy to order quickly. My other half enjoyed the sausage but agreed the chips were overdone or reused. For the princely sum of around 14 pounds for 2 people, I’d consider it on the high end for what it is although if we had rated the chips better, probably reasonable. I’m not sure if we will return or try somewhere else.”
